Job SummarySr. Property Claims Examiner position is primarily involved with handling residential property insurance claims on insured risks located in South Florida. In addition, this position will assist the corporate claims team with other claims special projects as assigned.Duties and ResponsibilitiesInterview and correspond with policyholders, public adjusters, and attorneysExamine claim forms and records to determine coverageResponsible for all phases of property claims adjustingManage and direct field adjusters and vendorsReview case reserves on all assigned claim files to cover probable costsApprove or deny adjuster and contractor estimates of damage and loss amountsPrepare written reports of investigation, coverage, and damages within the CMSNegotiate and settle claims within authorityDraft denial letters for Claim Manager reviewInvestigate and pursue subrogation opportunitiesWork with attorneys to defend the company's claim positionMaintain accurate and complete filesOther tasks and projects as may be assignedQualificationsFlorida All Lines Adjuster (620) License requiredAssociate's degree minimum; Bachelor's degree preferred; Or, an equivalent combination of education and significant directly related claims experience A customer service oriented focusMin. 5 years of personal and commercial lines property and casualty claims experience preferredStrong ability to research, conduct proactive investigations and negotiate successful resolutionsExceptional organizational skills with strong ability to pay attention to detailSpanish language skills, both written and verbal, preferredStrong independent work ethic with ability to develop preferred results, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities effectivelyEffective problem solving and analytical skillsKnowledge and experience with Xactware products preferredExcellent communication skills and ability to interact on a professional level with internal and external personnel and partners Operational proficiency with MS Office products requiredEssential FunctionsAbility to effectively manage Claims Systems to accurately maintain commercial files and diaries.Ability to deliver exceptional customer service through professional and timely communication including telephone, email, and written correspondence.Direct defense counsel on files and manage expensesAbility to think critically, evaluate coverages, interpret insurance policies, and determine appropriate settlement strategiesAbility to research, stay up to date, and comply with state regulations pertaining to claims handlingAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal departments and direct reports, and external vendors, stakeholders, and policyholdersAbility to identify and interpret complex, special, or large loss claims and determine the appropriate resolution strategyWorking ConditionsThis job operates in a professional office environment.
