DescriptionHylton-Rodic Law PLLC, a boutique intellectual property law firm, is looking for a part-time Patent ParalegalIP Legal Assistant (preferably with 2-5 years of experience of foreign filing and US prosecution experience) to work in-person in our office. The ideal candidate will ...Be responsible for supporting the Firm's foreign and US patent procurement practice including:filing PCT applications and US domestic and national phase application;preparation and e-filing of office action responses, information disclosure statements, petitions, issue fees, and other patent prosecution documents;timely seeking foreign filing licenses, and instructing overseas attorneys on PCT nationalizations and Paris Convention filings, working statements; communicating with associates throughout the world; updating the status of patents and patent applications, and inspection of electronic patent file histories; filing sequence listings;preparing other patent forms and correspondence;preparing and sending client correspondence, and working with timekeepers to review work and ensure docketing deadlines are met. Maintain confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion; Be proactive, resourceful, and adaptable to handle unexpected tasks and challengesMeet billable hours expectation and adhere to best practice for daily time entry. RequirementsEducation, Experience, And Skills Required:Must have a high school diploma (or equivalent)College degree andor a paralegal certificate from a school approved by the ABA (preferred)2-5 years of foreign filing andor U.S. patent prosecution experience (preferred)Trademark law experience a plus. Design law patent experience a plus.Knowledge of USPTO rules and practices.Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to seamlessly perform and prioritize multiple tasks with excellent attention to detailStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with staff and clientsMust demonstrate professionalism, confidentiality, organizational skills, and the ability to be proactive.Executes work with a high degree of precision and accuracyProactive approach to problem-solving and strong decision-making capabilityStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational and judgment skillsAbility to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilitiesAbility to learn new concepts and skills quicklyExpert proficiency with the MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) applications. This includes ability to proof and edit (using edit marks) non-routine correspondence, reports and tables for typographical (spelling and grammar) errors, and sentence structureCompensation (part-time): $26 - $36 per year (depending on experience)Office is walking distance from Tenleytown metro stop.
