Over 85% of our families are in living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.PS 306 Ethan Allen Community School is a school-based program that offers a strategy to organize resources and share leadership to integrate social services into the fabric of the schools. Community Schools offer a holistic approach toward improving academic performance driven by collaborative partnerships among principals, parents, teachers and CBOs. At the student level, Community Schools aim to increase student attendance, student engagement, development of social and emotional skills, and improve academic performance. At the school level, Community Schools aim to improve school culture, more actively engage families and provide seamless service delivery with partner organizations.Position: Restorative Justice CoordinatorReports To: Program DirectorLocation: 970 Vermont Street Brooklyn NY 11207What The Restorative Justice Coordinator Does:Foster respectful, professional relationships with students and school staff, maintaining confidentiality in all matters related to studentFollow Universal Precautions, Standard Protocols, and ensure compliance with all Federal, State, City, and CAMBA privacy and security policies, including those protecting healthActively participate in the School Attendance team to design and implement strategies aimed at improving student attendance, aligning efforts with schoolCoordinate student and parent workshops in restorative justiceDevelop and implement strategic plans for the Restorative Justice program, supporting its execution while actively participating in the school attendance team to enhance student attendance and align with schoolWork directly with students struggling with chronicProvide multi-tiered support for students facing academic, behavioral, or emotionalCollaborate with success mentors to identify at-risk students for timelyCollaborate with staff to develop tailored solutions to improveCollaborate with the Counseling Team in the implementation of Tier 2 and Tier 3 behaviorTracking student intervention and progress in collaboration with cohortDevelop and implement lesson plans that support social-emotional learning (SEL).Collaborate with school administration and staff to conduct a needs assessment, on the needs of students, families and school communityDesign and update a monthly interactive SEL bulletin board to promote key concepts such as self-awareness, social awareness, and responsible decision-making.Establish and facilitate teams of school stakeholders responsible for implementing the restorative programOrganize restorative practices training for key schoolEnsure restorative justice practices are inclusive and responsive to the diverse cultural and racial backgrounds of the community.Collaborate with the Pupil Personnel Team and Student InterventionMentor students by setting academic, behavioral, and socialInput and maintain accurate student data in the databaseAnalyze behavioral and attendance data to guide individual interventions with schoolOversee students during breakfast, lunch, andEnsure student records, case notes, and attendance logs are kept accurate, up-to-date, andAssist in organizing school-wide activities that promote a positive schoolPrepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports on program performance andSupport student leadership by co-advising student organizations and facilitating extracurricularAddress disciplinary issues promptly and escalate concerns to school personnel asOrganize and oversee student group activities, ensuring a structured, supportive environment for allProvide logistical support for schoolSupport daily operational tasks, including file maintenance, supply management, and resourceAssist with tracking student attendance at arrival and ensure late arrivals follow appropriate sign-inCommunicate with parentsguardians to address concerns regarding student safety orDuties evolve or expand based on program needs, with additional responsibilities assigned asMinimum EducationExperience Required:Bachelor's degree in psychology, Education, Social Work or related fieldOther Requirements:Min of two (2) years of experience in child development or a similar area; experience working in school-based oryouth services settings is stronglyStrong administrative skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs and databaseFamiliarity with Restorative Practices and demonstrated expertise in working with and facilitating groups of school-based staffExhibits cultural competence and works with racial justice lensDemonstrated belief in youth development and youth leadershipChild supervisory experience is aCompensation: $47,000 annuallyWhen salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate.
