Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and holding employees accountable; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. The ideal candidate will also have managed a billing department in a clinic setting. This position will manage billing operations as well as coordinate revenue cycle functions between the front desk, clinical, and accounts recovery staff.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Direct oversight of the day-to-day site clinic operations support staff inclusive of dental office support staff, exclusive of doctors.Recruits, hires, and supervises assigned clericalclinical personnel in conjunction with Operations, including efficiently seating patients and overseeingpromoting the highest level of customer service provided to patients and clients.Develops efficient processes for the collection of demographic and insurance information for patients. Leads the team in educating patients about benefits they may be eligible for and assisting patients with those application procedures.Provides front desk functions of greeting clients, check-in and registration functions along with the support staff team, as needed.Evaluates performance frequently and recommends increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions for those staff assigned. Assures that performance evaluations of staff are completed in a timely manner.Oversees the provision of office support functions by dental assistants and support staff including administrative support with client communications, paperwork requests and administrative support of Nursing and Medical providers.Provide the highest level of service to internal customers at the site including dental providers.Serves as liaison for dental providers and gathers feedback on how to improve operational efficiencies.Ensures smooth operations and minimizes wait times, improves cycle timepatient waiting time.Conducts office staff meetings with appropriate staff members at a sufficient frequency to maintain optimal communication regarding site issues, staff concerns, and operation policies.Serves as a liaison for the safety committee, and firesite-specific safety officer functions for the site(s).Acts as a client advocate and attempts to resolve client complaints regarding office functions and services provided. Reports incidents needing a higher level of attention to the grievance officer.Assists team in resolution of day-to-day operational challenges and seeks feedback from the team on operations for the site.Develop and oversee the schedule for support staff to optimize operational efficiency at the site(s).Works collaboratively with outside vendors as well as internal staff to order dental and office supplies for the site. Provides allocation for invoices of expenses incurred by the site(s).Oversees maintenance of clinic site(s) and equipment providing recommendations for maintenance over time.Develops training programs to ensure data entry standardization, accuracy and integrity as well as adherence to collections policies and procedures. Mentors staff to develop skills necessary to improve their abilities.Establishes monitoring and auditing practices to assure the accuracy of data collection.Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.Performs other duties as needed.Oversees the billing operations including, but not limited to denial management, financial reporting and charge management.Responsible for assuring the organization adheres to appropriate billing policies and all applicable federal and state laws.Responsible for accuracy and completeness of billing, timely collection of patient accounts receivable and financial reconciliation when applicable.Supervises outsourced billing agency, credentialing specialist and any internal billing staff.Manages online bill pay vendor applications including credit card merchant and paper statement conjunction with a third-party recovery team, identify, improve and evaluate productivity bottlenecks within the revenue cycle.Generate and analyze financial reports, and aid accounting staff in day-to-day operations.Principal Administrator for filing annual Medicaid and Medicare cost reports.What you will bring to Howard Brown:QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS REQUIRED:High School DiplomaBachelor's Degree preferred5 years of dental office experience required5 year's experience in a healthcare billing setting requiredFQHC experience preferredExpertise in dental billing, coding, and account reconciliationStrong technology proficiencyMust have a solid knowledge of billing and financial conceptsDirect oversight and management of staff requiredAbility to promote a culture of customer servicePolished oral, written and interpersonal communications.Working Conditions:Requires ability to speak audibly and listen actively.Requires ability to use computers, telephones and other office equipment.Requires ability to sit for extended periods of time.May require occasional bending and lifting up to 25 pounds.Will require travel between clinics.EQUAL OPPORTUNITY STATEMENT:Decisions and criteria governing the employment relationship with all employees at Howard Brown are made in a non-discriminatory manner, without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, pregnancy, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, age, FMLA status, or any other factor determined to be unlawful by federal, state or local statutes.
