SummaryThe Senior Accountant reports to the VP of Accounting and will be responsible for the project accounting and cost reporting requirements of multiple mid-sized projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, overseeing general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. Must possess excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.Role & Responsibilities: Reports to the VP of Accounting on the cost control as well as overall project costs as they relate to budgeted amounts and their impact on project profitabilityAnswers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting dataReviews and processes credit card expenses, including coding expenses and researching charges, T&E and Drug purchases.Identifies errors and suggests ways to improve efficiency and spendingVerifies and reconciles vendor contractsSupports back financing initiatives and reportingPrepares schedules and footnotes for year-end financial statement review with external accountantsAssists accounting team in the month end closing and financial reporting including account analysis, variance analysisPrepares month-end reconciliations; inventory reconciliationPrepares journal entriesExamines costs to ensure agreements match with contracts, policy, terfaces with corporate staff in dealing with billing issues and profit recognitionMakes recommendations based on analysis and status of reserves, assets and expendituresAnalyzes complex financial reports and recordsAssists with financial and tax auditsDevelops and documents business processes and accounting policies to maintain internal controlsCoordinates more complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with other departmentsEnsures compliance with GAAP principlesDirects internal and external audits to ensure complianceParticipates in financial standards setting and in forecast processProtects organization's value by keeping information confidentialParticipates in special projects as assignedEssential Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) preferred.Experience: 5-7 years' experience working in a Staff Accountant or Senior Accountant role; experience in the Healthcare Industry preferred.KnowledgeSkillsExperience:Advanced working experience with Concur highly preferredIn-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)Advanced MS Suite, MS Excel skills including V-lookups and pivot tablesMeticulous attention to detailSuperior organizational and time-management skills; ability to prioritizeAbility to meet a constant stream of deadlinesSuperior analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environment
