Senior Project EngineerDepartment: Project EngineerEmployment Type: Full TimeLocation: Irvine, CACompensation: $85,000 - $100,000 yearDescriptionThe primary function of the Senior Project Engineer is to assist the project team in the administration and management of many of the activities, which are associated with the construction project.Key ResponsibilitiesThe duties, responsibilities and attributes of the Senior Project Engineer typically include, but are not limited to:Technical SkillsAssist with job office set upPrepare the initial set up of CMiC, i.e. Submittal Log Registry, RFI numbering system, etc.Prepare and maintain Submittal LogsAssist the project team with the initial set up of PlanGrid to organize the contract documents for the teams useManage, set up, and oversee progress photo documentation via utilizing PlanGridPrepare and maintain RFI Logs in CMiCPost RFI's and maintain the accuracy of the projects as-builtsManage and maintain the Material Procurement LogInteract with Field Superintendent(s), Field Foreman, Subcontractor Project Managers, and Material Suppliers Vendors to ensure timely material deliveries to the siteOversee the contract close out process (O&M manuals, As-Builts, etc.)Attend project meetings and assist in the preparation distribution of meeting minutesCreate and organize all closeout bindersAttend and participate in WEO Quarterly Risk Management (QRM) TrainingsParticipate in WEO networking eventsParticipate in all PE trainings, including PE Boot Camps and PE Round TablesManagement SkillsWork closely with the APE(s) and PE(s) that are on your project team and mentor and train where applicableAssist the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager in obtaining costs from subcontractors for any extra work performed on the projectLog costs properly in CMiC, so the Subcontractor Tracking Log may be utilizedAssist or manage documenting, tracking and maintaining PCI Ticket LogStart understanding and managing the subcontractor Change Management process by being assigned a few subcontractors that you are responsible for where you will be managing all financial aspects of their project specific Work OrderPrepare, review and distribute Change Order Requests for the trades you are responsible forVet Subcontractor Change Order pricingTake the first pass at negotiating Subcontractor Change Order pricing when applicableAssist the Assistant Project Manager and Project Manager in providing pertinent information that could affect the Monthly Reconciliation Report accuracy and forecastsGet involved with the Monthly Reconciliation Reporting and understand the processEnsure the timely delivery to the jobsite of all project equipment and materials (procurement)Coordinate with the Assistant Project Manager or Project Manager on the date subcontracts must be awarded by to maintain the desired material on-site dates, per the P6 scheduleManage the entire submittal process with the subcontractors and design teamEnsure that the project team is aware of the storage location of all approved SubmittalsCreate and maintain a document log, which tracks every drawing issuance from the design teamAssist with the preparation and distribution of overall project schedules and 8-week look ahead schedulesFind conflicts in the contract documents and issue a "Request for Information" (RFI) to the appropriate party partiesFind practical solutions to field problems or conflicts found in the contract documents prior to issuing RFI'sTrack outstanding RFIs and expedite return responses to all subcontractors. Elevate critical issues to the APM PM in a timely mannerAn SPE is able to handle more issues standalone, but still knows when to elevate accordinglyAssist the Project Superintendent(s) in providing safety orientation to all field workers prior to their start of work on siteAssist the Project Superintendent(s) with generating and issuing incident reportsCollect all Injury and Illness Prevention Plans (IIPP) from all subcontractorsCollect all Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) plans from subcontractors as neededCollect Safety Submittals from subcontractors - IIPP, JHA, SDSCreate the first draft of the projects Site Specific Quality Plan (SSQP)Work with the Project Superintendent(s) to schedule all pre-installation meetingsAttend and lead weekly Building Information Modeling (BIM) meetings and assist in the development of a coordinated model between the MEPF tradesDocument and take meeting minutes for weekly BIM coordination meetingsPotentially manage the entire BIM coordination process when applicable. The level of engagement leadership may vary from project to projectDesign project required mock-ups and work closely with the design team to obtain acceptance of all project required mock-upsDevelop an Owner training schedule which shows when all applicable subcontractors will provide training to the OwnerVideo record and formally transmit all trainings to the Owner as part of our close out packageFollow up and document punch list work statusParticipate in initial and or acceptance walks with the Architect Owner, as neededSkills, Knowledge and ExpertisePersonal AttributesEffective written and verbal language communication skillsTakes initiative, strives for increased responsibility and has a desire to learnShows emotional maturity, punctuality and dependabilityMotivate and contribute to the teamwork morale of the project teamShows the desire and willingness to progress to the Assistant Project Manager role and responsibilities Interpersonal SkillsEstablish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with all (client, design professionals, various WEO departments, WEO project team, inspectors, and subcontractors)Show alignment with and promotes WEO Corporate ValuesMentor, coach and train as necessary to help subordinates achieve their career objectivesQualifications:Four-year degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or equivalent experience in a related field and a minimum of 1-2 years of relevant project management experience, as an Assistant Project Engineer, Project Engineer or equivalentProficiency in basic computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook) Basic understanding of scheduling and CMiC applicationsProficiency in Microsoft Project or P6 Scheduling Software and Project Management Software, such as Prolog, Viewpoint, CMiC or equivalent applications.
