Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe South Bay Workforce Investment Board, Inc. (SBWIB, Inc.) is seeking a highly motivated Program District Assistant - Job Developer to carry out the job development objectives of the Transitional Subsidized Employment (TSE) Program. The Program District Assistant - Job Developers will be co-located at one of the 28 America Job Centers of California (AJCC) subcontracted with SBWIB, Inc. to implement the program, and will be responsible for securing unsubsidized employment for program participants across multiple centers within a designated region.The incumbent will work closely with various AJCCs to find jobs for CalWORKS participants completing their Paid Work ExperienceOn-The-Job training assignments under the TSE Program. The ideal candidate for this position will have a thorough understanding of the TSE program's functions and objectives, possess the ability to inspire participants to reach their professional goals through employment, and be skilled in effectively promoting the program to employers and securing job placements.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the GAIN Program Director (or designee), the Program District Assistant - Job Developer's duties include, but are not limited to, the following:Build and maintain professional relationshipsconnections with employers, business and industry representatives, and job placementtraining agencies to promote the program for participant placementDevelop and maintain a portfolio of employers for unsubsidized placements for TSE participants upon completion of their assignmentsCommunicate the program's benefits and employment support services to employers, and address their specific needsConduct outreach efforts, such as cold calls to potential employers, collaborating with AJCCs on recruitments, and facilitating job readiness workshops to support successful placementsWork closely with AJCCs to ensure participants who are in the last 3 months of their assignment, andor who have completed their assignment, are targeted for job development;Instruct participants in job searching, application processes, resume writing, interview preparation, job retention skills, and positive work attitudesAssess participant's interests and qualifications for unsubsidized job placements through interviews, and ensure successful match between participant qualifications and job skillsrequirements.Arrange external interviews for participants who have successfully completed the program, place participants into unsubsidized jobs, and meet placement goals within specified timeframesTrack participant activity and progress, and collect data from employers on job orders, including specific job requirements and skillsStay updated on job lead sources, monitor industry trends, and maintain current labor market information through ongoing researchMonitor job fairs, career expos, recruiting events, and other relevant resources, and actively participate in outreach and recruitment by attending events to create opportunities for participantsParticipate in routine AJCC meetings, LA County GAIN Region Staff meetings, LA County GAIN Program Division TSE meetings and SBWIB, Inc. GAIN Unit meetings as directed;Prepare and submit reports as directed by Manager;Other related duties as assigned. Requirements **Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Business, Public Administration, Social Science, Communications, or a related field **At least two (2) years of experience in the delivery of social service programs, workforce development, career counseling, job placement, or other relevant areaEnthusiastic and creative, and able to work effectively in a professional setting with various levels of staff, board members, and partnersQuick-thinking, strategic, and capable of executing new ideas in a fast-paced environmentAble to work independently with minimal supervision and take initiative.Detail-oriented, able to work well under pressure, and proficient in problem-solvingDisplays strong organizational skills, adeptly managing multiple tasks and projects in an efficient and timely manner while remaining flexible, versatile, and tolerant in a changing work environmentExcellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with individuals from diverse backgrounds, opinions, and needs.Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and more) and virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Teams, etc.), with a willingness to learn new tools as neededReliable transportation, valid CA driver's license, and active vehicle insurance - this position requires travel within the assigned regions Successful completion of background and reference clearances, along with adherence to all safety protocols mandated by the Company and as outlined under the working conditions below **Alternatively, a satisfactory combination of experience, education, and training demonstrating the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties described (experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis). Working Conditions Working in person and wearing protective equipment as needed (e.g. mask, gloves, etc.,), and following protective measures enforced by the Company, City, County, State, andor Federal Authorities as it relates to current states of emergencies (e.g., pandemics) or the functions of this position. Note: Measures may change based on the level of safety concerns. Employee may be required to spend the majority of the day walking, standing, or sitting at a desk, with some lifting and bending. Must have excellent time management skills, must be able to work well under stress, and meet deadlines. Must also be able to travel to other locations for training, conferences, andor meetings within or outside our local area and occasionally statewide in which such travel may last one (1) or more days - ifas necessary. Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and proof of insurance are a must. Salary & Benefits This is a full-time, non-exempt position (40 hoursweek), generally with a starting pay rate of $24.55 - $29.27 per hour, commensurate with experience.
