Description Position at MTA Headquarters JOB TITLE: Operations Analyst, General Accounting Fixed AssetsSALARY RANGE: $ 45,125 - $75,208DEPTDIV: Finance Services BSCSUPERVISOR: Supervisor, General Accounting and Fixed AssetsLOCATION: 333 West 34th Street, New York, NY 10001HOURS OF WORK: 9:00 am - 5:30 pm (8 hoursday)DEADLINE: Open until filledThis position is represented by the Transportation Communications Union (TCU)SUMMARY:This position is responsible for performing bank reconciliations for all MTA agencies. This includes monitoring bank account activities to find discrepancies while also communicating with Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Treasury to identify and resolve internal issues.RESPONSIBILITIES:Complete monthly bank reconciliations as assigned by supervisorMaintain proper support for bank reconciliationsCommunicate variances and required correcting actions to Payroll and Accounts Payable after reviewing with supervisorFollow up on outstanding reconciling items on a consistent basis and appropriately document responsesEnsure that all assignments are completed with the highest quality and within agreed to time guidelines and key performance indicatorsComplete monthly account analysis as assigned by supervisorTrack and report status of workMaintain appropriate level of process, functional and technical knowledgeSupport other team membersAnswer questions from managementComply with MTA policies, practices, and proceduresDevelop and update operating procedures and training materials as neededKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESPossess knowledge of General Accounting principlesWorking knowledge and use of PeopleSoft or related database softwareAbility to process requests consistently with general supervisionAbility to assess problems and promptly resolve or identify appropriate team to resolveStrong oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with and collaborate across the BSC at all levels within and outside the organizationStrong time management skills and ability to manage individual assignmentsAbility to work in a team environmentStrong attention to detailAbility to handle sensitive situations and maintain a high degree of confidentialityUnderstanding of MTA Finance policies, practices and procedures preferredFamiliarity with performance metrics and ability to meet identified targets preferredWorking knowledge and use of office productivity tools (e.g., MS Outlook, MS Office applications) and web-based applications preferredEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Required:High School Diploma or GEDMinimum 1 year of experience in Accounting, Business or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be consideredPreferred:Bachelor's degree or Associate degree with 1-year relevant experience in Accounting, Business, or related fieldExperience in a shared service environmentOTHER INFORMATION:Pursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the "Commission").WAGE PROGRESSION:Step 1 - New WP 60%Step 2 - New WP 70%Step 3 - New WP 75%Step 4 - New WP 80%Step 5 - New WP 85%Step 6 - New WP 90%Step 7 - New WP 95%Step 8 - New WP 100%Equal Employment Opportunity MTA and its subsidiary and affiliated agencies are Equal Opportunity Employers, including with respect to veteran status and individuals with disabilities.The MTA encourages qualified applicants from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and abilities, including military service members, to apply.
