As a Health Technician III you provide a safe environment to participants by monitoring for potential medical and mental health issues as the participant goes through withdrawal. Mission Street Recovery Station in San Jose, CA supports participants who have been transported to the recovery station for public intoxication or are in mental health crisisunder the influence of drugs as an alternative to incarceration and unnecessary hospitalization. You will connect with participants through hourly monitoring of vitals, making medications available, collaborating with participants medicalmental health provider and making necessary referrals as needed. Responsibilities:Service Delivery:Perform health screening for all potential clientsMonitor vitals, medical triage, and assess clients' needs for sobering.Maintain records of client's medication in logbook and EHR system.Perform appropriate assessment which may include rapid risk intoxication assessment and vitals for every client entering the sobering center.Document observations every 30 minsCase note every 6 hours (in EHR if applicable) which includes medications observation, case management, crisis interventions and discharge.Create a welcoming environment for participants.Perform conflict resolution and de-escalation of hostile clientRespond to crisis's, emergencies and other client needs in an appropriate and timely manner.Team Support:Work collaboratively as part of the multi-disciplinary team at the Sobering Center.Participate in daily shift change and report health related concerns and alerts.Collaborate with Nurse Coordinator to reduce excessive Emergency room visits for medication clearancesSupporting in keeping a clean and safe environment.Quality Assurance Support:Daily monitoring and maintenance of client EHR (if applicable) for errors, corrections, and updating.Ensure all risk assessments are scanned and uploaded into the client chart daily.Ensure all medication clearances and Emergency Room discharge paperwork is scanned and uploaded daily into the client chart.Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.Qualifications:Licensed Vocation Nurse in the State of CaliforniaMust be able to work evenings, weekends and holidaysB.S. Degree or equivalent work experienceKnowledge of alcohol and drug addiction and mental health diagnosisAble to work with diverse populations, cultures and people with co-occurring disorders and disabilitiesAble to handle and de-escalate emergency situations.Skilled in time managementAbility to collaborate with the team internally and coordinatecollaborate with external partners including (but not limited to) case managers, psychiatrists, social workers, referral sources, medical care personnel, etc.Must show a demonstrated knowledge of computers; including but not limited to, data input, internet navigation, Microsoft word, etc. Ability to write clear narrative reports and treatment notesFluency in English and at least one of BHSD's seven threshold languages (Spanish, Vietnamese, Tagalog, Mandarin, Cantonese, Farsi, Russian)Commitment to cultural competence and serving a diverse communityWhat else is required?Valid California Driver's license, excellent driving record and auto insuranceCurrent CPRFirst-aid trainingTB and drug testing required at time of hireCompensation and BenefitsWe are proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package to all full-time and part-time employees over 20 hours per week.100% of medical, dental, Life and LTD for the employee and 50% for any dependents medical and dental coverage PTO and Holiday payRetirement benefits after 6 months of serviceTraining and CEU opportunitiesAnd of course, the opportunity to meaningfully contribute to a team of mindful, caring and passionate people at work every day!Salary: $33-35hrdepending on experience and qualifications.
