The Estimator will be responsible for achieving sales and profitability objectives through comprehensive cost estimating and project awards.Duties and Responsibilities:Prepare and review estimates for new projectsPrepare quantity takeoff and qualify vendorsub packages to complete bids by the required deadlinesRead and interpret plans and specifications to determine project scopeContact vendors and subcontractors to assure adequate pricing for the projects and adequate scope coverage per contract requirementsAttend pre-bid meetings and conduct site visits to inspect existing site conditionsCreate written proposals detailing scope of work as well as any alternates or value engineering optionsCompile bid notes, reports, and overall project summary and provide to the project manager at project hand offPrepare change order proposals for awarded contracts as neededProficiency with estimating software such as Bluebeam Revu and ConEst IntellibidPerforms other duties as assigned.Job Requirements:Five (5) years of experience in the electrical construction fieldPrevious electrical estimating experience is preferredHigh School Diploma or GEDPreferred Associates Degree or Certificate from an Accredited Electrical ProgramExpert knowledge of electrical materialsmethods used in construction as well as local and national electrical codes and regulations governing themStrong math and computer skillsMust possess excellent communication and customer service skillsAbility to read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsMerit Electrical Group is an Equal Opportunity Employer
