POSITION DESCRIPTIONJob Title: Business Development Director Date: October 2024 Department Johnson Asset Management Reports To: President - JAM FLSA Classification: ExemptSummary objective of position:Johnson Asset Management is seeking a Business Development Director to structure, implement and lead our home office relationships at distributing partner firms. The role is focused on driving product placement and sales through effective relationship management and internal cross departmental coordination. The BDD is responsible for managing the partner firm home office relationships with a focus on asset gathering, retention, expanding product offerings usage, new offerings, marketing campaigns, conferenceevent management and client satisfaction.Essential functions of position: Explores and executes strategic opportunities for product placement, sales, and marketing execution Drives home office accounts initiatives through day-to-day relationship management across products, research, operations, marketing, and sales teams at partner firms. Resolves complex problems through collaboration and communication across internal and external teams Cultivates partnerships with key decision makers at assigned firms to meet their product, sales, marketing, and trainingeducation needs Serve as portfolio specialist, provide technical information and effectively position the firm's investment strategies, demonstrate a strong knowledge of the competitive landscape, financial markets and industry related topics Develops, manages, and ensures execution of strategic and tactical plans by leveraging broader distribution, operational and investment teams Develops knowledge of partner firms' platforms, sales trends, execution, and placement opportunities across channels Works with investment teams to tailor message Initiates and works collaboratively to develop firm specific marketing campaigns to achieve client retention and new business development goals Works with speakers to create tailored content directed to partner firms' audiences Supports sales team goals through effective communication of partner firms' initiatives, trends, and available resources Represents Johnson Asset Management at national, regional and partner firms' conferences and events Leads internal coordination functions working closely with sales, marketing, operations, finance, and investment teams Manages agreements related to partner firms' legal needs Prepares and presents to internal and external management teams on function related topicsQualifications: Inquisitive mindset, asking probing questions and seeking additional information to identify needs and offer customized solutions Entrepreneurial - possess strong desire to be part of a growingdynamic organization and be directly involved in the development of the strategic long-term plan Sales mindset - enjoys the challenge of prospecting firms Ability to work independently Initiative, self-starter qualities Excellent relationship management and communication skills with the ability to interface across all levels of clients & prospects Ability to research and understand complex distribution partners Strong problem-solving skills Negotiation skills Ability to operate and collaborate as part of a team Effective communication skills, both written and oral Prepare and make presentations Knowledge of financial markets Ability to articulate opinions effectively Creative critical thinkerRequired education and experience: Bachelor's degree Minimum 7-10 years investment industry experience with distribution of investment products, in a home office or manager research capacity Experience in sales, business development andor client relationships Proven ability to develop and cultivate new relationships with home offices Strong knowledge of mutual funds, separately managed accounts, model delivery and other vehiclesmethods to deliver investment products to clientsPreferred education and experience: Investment-related designations that may demonstrate deeper knowledge of the investment industry Existing relationships with home officesSupervisory responsibility: NATravel required: Yes, expected to be 25-50% of the time.Work environment: Temperature controlled, office environment.
