This position is for a part-time PE teacher in our Lower School (Grades 1-5), starting in August 2025 for the 2025-2026 school year.They will need to possess a familiarity with many ways of approaching a subject, willingness to develop one's own materials and be open to learning new ways. Due to the diverse nature of our School, the teacher will need to be sensitive and open to the multiple cultural backgrounds of the students, to be collaborative and exhibit a sense of internationalism in the work environment.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESImplement the daily program of activities based on best practices and researched principles of child development and in accordance with the program's curriculum, social-emotional learning program (Positive Discipline) and school culture.Teaches knowledge and skills in physical fitness, health education, and individual, dual, or team sports, utilizing curriculum and other appropriate learning activities.Work cooperatively with other physical education teachers in planning and implementing a balanced physical education program.Analyzes demonstrate and explain the basic skills, knowledge, and strategies of formal sports, games, rhythms, and fundamentals of body movement.Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials.Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areas.Provides appropriate safety instruction and makes safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of students.Provide continuous student assessment, mid-year and end-of-year progress reports, and hold parent-teacher conferences twice a yearAttend regular meetings as neededMaintains control of storage and use of school property.Evaluates each student's growth in physical skills, knowledge, and contribution in team municates with parents and school counselors on student progress.Administers testing in accordance with division testing practices.Models non discriminatory practices in all activities.Maintains appropriate licenses and training hours as required.Works cooperatively with other team members to improve the instructional program.Evaluates and differentiate student progress and adapt individual programs to meet student needs.Successfully complete other professional responsibilities as assignedEstablish a positive relationship with all members of our school community SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of 2 years teaching experienceBachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, Master's degree preferred Excellent communication skills with both students and parents A positive history of collegiality and collaboration with other teachers and administrators Able to kneel, bend, squat, lift, push, pull, and carry children up to 70lbsPossess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absencesWork experience and exposure to diverse languages and cultures strongly preferredMust be authorized to work in the United StatesBilingual in FrenchEnglish a plusSalary range for this position: $66,404- $110,975 depending upon experience and qualifications.EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY POLICY The International School of San Francisco is committed to providing an open, fair, inclusive, non-discriminatory environment for all individuals across differences of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, socio-economic status, ethnicity, age, physical ability, or medical condition.
