Job OverviewSummaryObjective The Apprentice Technician will diagnose and perform repairs on all vehicle components with efficiency and accuracy under the direction of a senior or master technician and in accordance with dealer and manufacturerfactory standards.Essential FunctionsPerforms basic automotive and truck maintenance services including but not limited to rotating, replacing, mounting, and balancing tires, adjusting fluids and coolants, oil and filter changes, and brake adjustmentsMaintains a clean, efficient work area and assists in keeping the shop neat and organizedEnsures that customer vehicles are repaired accurately and kept clean - road test vehicles to ensure quality repairs the first time.Diagnoses malfunctions and performs the repairs for them under the direction of a senior technicianFull Automotive troubleshooting and testing under the direction of a senior or master technicianPerforms additional duties related to the repair of vehicles as required and assigned by senior or Master Technicians or SupervisorsExamines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommendedDocuments all work performed and recommended on the repair orderCommunicate with Service Advisor andor Dispatcher if additional work is neededAids service writer as needed to write work orders, conduct test rides, interact with the customer, or in any other way you are able to guarantee customer satisfactionMaintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer and in accordance with company policiesComplies with all laws and regulations pertaining to working with hazardous materials. Workspace is covered but may involve various weather conditions such as heat and cold as well as safety hazards due to the nature of work. May experience loud noise on a regular basis.MediumHeavy Work-Will lift over 50 pounds at a time with assistance device required andor frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to or over 35 pounds with assistance device available as needed. A recent graduate of a vocational program in automotive repair.Preferred Education and Experience A.A or equivalent vocational certification in automotive repair.
