A Better OpportunityWe are seeking a Securities and Corporate Transactions attorney to support Better's General CounselChief Compliance Officer, Chief Financial Officer and other senior executives relating to SEC reporting requirements, capital markets and corporate finance transactions. The attorney will work closely with the company's Accounting and Treasury departments and with other business units as needed. The attorney must have extensive knowledge and experience with U.S. securities law matters, including public company periodic reporting requirements and be able to handle routine capital market transactions with minimal outside counsel assistance. In addition, the attorney will work with outside counsel on more complex transactions, provide legal support for other corporate finance matters, such as credit agreements and derivative agreements, and assist with corporate governance matters. The attorney will work closely with our deputy general counsel of litigation and corporate transactions, and report to the General CounselCCO. The attorney chosen for this role will serve as a key leader within a Legal & Compliance team that is critical to ensuring our success during a pivotal stage of our company's development. ResponsibilitiesWork in close partnership with GCCCO on SEC reporting, corporate governance, board management and corporate transactionsChair company is disclosure committee Provide legal support to Accounting, Treasury, Equity, Tax and other departments as neededAdvise on policy regarding U.S. securities lawsVetting and managing outside counsel resources for complex corporate transactions and facilitating overall success of relationshipsAssist with a variety of special projectsQualifications4+ years of experience in law firm, corporate, or governmental environments collaborating with senior leadersExperience in fintech or other start-up environments strongly preferredJD from an accredited law school and active license to practice in New York, New Jersey or CaliforniaStrong leadership capabilities; we want to hear about things that would have never happened if you were not there to motivate a group of people to do themConsistent track record of work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to balance multiple projects simultaneouslyExcellent project management and task tracking skillsUnassailable integrity and confidentialityAbility to think outside of the box in difficult situationsPrior mortgage experience is a plus$194,000 - $275,000 a yearCompany Benefits Our total rewards package consists of base salary, benefits, and opportunity for yearly cash bonus.
