Position internally known as Claims Supervisor.Job SummaryManages a team of Claims Examiners handling complex claims. Ensures prompt, effective and courteous handling of all claims to policy holders and claimants with special emphasis on complying with appropriate guidelines. Oversees work of outside vendorscontractors.Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupervises Examiners to ensure proper claim handling and compliance with procedures. Oversees work product of outside vendorscontractorsEvaluate property claims and provide guidance and settlement authority to property claims adjusters.Conducts Open and Closed File Reviews to evaluate and document overall operational value.Effectively manages loss, loss adjustment expense and loss reserve for property claims.Recognizes complex claims and develop appropriate claims strategy and settlement solutions.Researches, reviews and interprets policy language and state laws as necessary.Manages and resolves special casesproblem claims. Evaluates claims and addresses policy coverage issues in excess of staff authority.Assists in establishing policy and procedure for the department, developing strategic goals and objectives and providing direction, support and municates effectively with agents, policyholders, Claims Unit personnel, Underwriting, Human Resources, FinanceAccounting, and Chief Claims Officer. Effectively interact with external business partners and exercise independent judgment.Builds effective and efficient team that delivers quality customer service on a consistent basis.Provides leadership and growth goals for team members as well as working with teams to achieve company goals.Other tasks and projects as may be assignedEssential FunctionsAbility to supervise and provide guidance to Examiners and Service Representatives in claim handling, performance, compliance, strategy, and settlement authorityAbility to think critically, evaluate coverages, interpret insurance policies, and determine appropriate settlement strategiesAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with internal departments and direct reports, and external vendors, stakeholders, and policyholdersAbility to identify and interpret complex, special, or large loss claims and determine the appropriate resolution strategy Ability to continuously monitor team performance, providing goals, evaluations, and disciplinary action as necessaryAbility to support the company in the event of catastrophe by adhering to company established CAT policies and proceduresQualificationsFlorida All Lines Adjuster License (520620 License) requiredBachelor's Degree in related field or a combination of education and significant directly related experience.At Least 5-7 years of experience processing claims, 2 years managing a Claims Team.Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented and exceptionally organized.Direct ReportsManage the Claims Examiner personnel and outside vendorscontractors.Working ConditionsThis job operates in a professional office environment.
