Job SummaryThe Nurse Manager provides high-quality Client-focused health care services that meet the assessed and individually planned needs of all clients in the Residential Treatment Program. The Nurse Manager will work as part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) 'and is responsible for maintaining standards of nursing care and competency, ethical treatment of patients, understanding of addiction and the medications used to treat substance use disorders, managing symptoms of long term withdrawal with comprehensive triage, consistent documentation on care, review, and implementation of treatment orders, and participation in the multi-disciplinary team via written and verbal communication. The Nurse Manager assumes several key responsibilities in client care, staff training, and leadership.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITESIt is the duty and responsibility of the Nurse Manager to:•assume a leadership role in the agency;•supervise, orientate, and assist staff in the delivery of patient care;•schedule Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) shifts ensuring that all shifts are covered, and if needed work any open shifts;•review LPN timecard activity for accuracy and ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures;•conduct LPN meetings;•oversee clinical matters including but not limited to clinical documentation, and reporting of abuse and neglect;•ensure compliance with HIPAA Privacy Rules;•participate in weekly One on One meetings and monthly in-services;•work collaboratively with other departments including but not limited to Accounting, Human Resources, Development, and Compliance and Quality Assurance;•participate in clinical discussions;•assist in maintaining the client census and timely movement of clients through the treatment program; •a complete incident reports and ensure LPNs are completing Incident Reports per agency policy, ensure all Incident Reports are submitted to Program ManagerNursing Director promptly;•safely administer medications as ordered using the five rights and utilizing a MAR;•conduct a narcotic pill count at the beginning and end of each shift and management of stock medicines;•manage patient pharmacy orders by timely processing them by fax or verbal order, ensure their arrival and log them onto patient's MAR;•manage the MAR daily, weekly, and monthly as needed;•ensure the security of narcotics, keys, and all other medications;•participate in medication and medical supply inventory control;•manage the medication refrigerator;•oversee pharmacy coordination as needed, including but not limited to MHSD, Avita, St. Vincent DePaul's, and local community pharmacies;•monitor prescribed medication consumption and treatments;•coordinate the management of patient's medication stock, including pharmacy pick-up and drop-off of meds, calling in refills for clients, and upkeep of how medication is stored;•educate clients on prescribed medication tapers;•ensure communication of medication procedures to discharged clients and scan discharged clients acknowledgement receipts of medications;•complete health information groups;•encourage clients' participation by empowering them;•be flexible when taking care of clients in need;•maintain professionalism with staff members and clients at all times;•complete an accurate census and count all clients daily;•complete triage on patient at time of admission and transcribe it to relevant paperwork for MDT;•attend weekly treatment team meetings and raise any concerns to the Counselors regarding clients, listen to concerns from the Counselors and assist if it is a medical issue;•review individual patient needs with the Psychiatrists;•follow treatment care plans set forth by the medical staff;•coordinatefacilitate patient care, work collaboratively and maintain communication with patient care team (providers, counselors, etc.) to provide effective, timely, and appropriate patient management;•provide on-going assessment of acute medicalnursing needs of all residents and refer residents to appropriate treatment centers;•coordinate shift change with night staff and Medical Staff Daily Inquiries review;•check-in with the Front Desk regarding if any clients went to ER after hours and obtain medical feedback sheet and any pertinent labs and notes for the visit;•conduct urine drug screens on all residents;•meet weekly with Community Health Center staff; and•perform other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL DEMANDSMust be able to tolerate long periods of standing or sitting. Must be able to twist, bend and lift to 20 pounds. May require up to 90% of physical activity. Must also be willing to work various shifts.WORK ENVIRONMENTWork is normally performed inside of the premises, which is climate controlled. Universal Precautions are expected to be maintained at all times. Risk factors associated with direct patient care can be expected.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum qualifications include the following:•High School Diploma or equivalent•Active Louisiana Registered Nurse License•At least 2 years of supervis01y experience•At least 2 years substance use disorder! Psychiatry experience•Current CPR certification•Electronic Health Record experience•Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, time management, and negotiation skills•Clinical competence in assigned area•Ability to work independentlyPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSPreferred qualifications include the following:•Bachelor's Degree•Knowledge of Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous principles•Knowledge of ASAM criteriaOdyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is an EEO employer - MFVetsDisabled
