Within this position, you will be responsible for managing the design and full execution of brand-consistent Skadden communications and materials. This position will be based in our New York office and has a hybrid schedule. Please note that the Firm will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Handles design and production of brand-consistent materials, including client-facing presentations and capabilities pieces; pitch and presentation templates; client mailings; internal and external websites; publications; recruiting materials; invitations and other collateral for client, diversity, alumni and law student events; announcements; ads; social media posts; podcasts and videos; and other Skadden-branded materials.Oversees designers in relation to their projects and manages workflow of design team in the Design Manager's absence, including assigning projects and giving feedback to more junior designers.Works closely with editors, illustrators, photographers, printers, freelancers and other structs non-designers in use of Firm-specific InDesign and PowerPoint templates for bios, practice descriptions and pitches.Maintains brand guidelines, style guides and handbooks for Firm-wide use.Ensures current knowledge of Firm policies and practices, industry trends and continued professional development for business services professionals.Recommends guidelines and practices to promote efficiency, effectiveness, excellent customer service and improved employee relations, in alignment with the Firm's Core Values.Develops and communicates departmental guidelines and procedures.Ensures accurate and timely responses to requests.Engages in strategic (i.e., long-range) planning by developing departmental goals and supporting objectives of other department(s).Demonstrates effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to facilitate effective work relationships with others.Manages Firm resources plies with and understands Firm operation, policies and procedures.Performs other related duties as assigned.QualificationsStrong typographic and layout skills; illustration, infographic design and animationvisual effects knowledgeComplete proficiency in the Adobe design apps, including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Dreamweaver; HTML coding, video editing and animation experience are a plusFull working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (with great proficiency in PowerPoint and Word)Significant experience managing full-cycle of print production: from estimating costs and negotiating vendor bids to supervising prepress work, checking over and marking up proofs, and properly overseeing press checksExperience with photoshoot directionmanagement and can handle basic photo retouchingAbility to manage multiple projects (each with specific audiences and set of objectives) simultaneously and in an organized and timely manner; and scrutinize work with tremendous attention to detailAbility to work well and effectively within a team, and offer new ideasfresh perspectiveCommunicates effectively and respectfully with all internal and external clients and vendorsStrong grammar, punctuation and spelling skills necessaryCurrent knowledge of industry best practices, trends and techniquesExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, organizational and planning skillsAbility to handle sensitive matters and maintain confidentialityAbility to organize and prioritize work and delegate effectivelyAbility to work well in a demanding and fast-paced environmentAbility to use discretion and exercise independent and sound judgmentFlexibility to adjust hours and work the hours necessary to meet operating and business needsEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree in graphic design or related areaMinimum of five years design experience in a professional services organization or other corporate environmentCulture & Life at SkaddenWhat makes Skadden special is our people and the culture, community and spirit of collaboration we have created.
