Description Your role at GEI. GEI's Madison, Wisconsin office is currently seeking a Project Engineer Manager with a background in civil, geotechnical or structural engineering to lead dam safety inspections, studies, rehabilitation design and construction oversight for state and FERC-regulated dams, water resources structures and major infrastructure projects. Essential Responsibilities & Duties Conduct planning, permitting, engineering analysis and design studies. Project manager or project engineer, responsible for developing drawings, technical specifications, design basis reports and calculations, bid documents and project schedules. Participate in dam safety inspections. Provide technical assistance and periodic during construction. Provide peer and senior technical review of project deliverables and direct project activities of staff-level engineers. Provide mentoring and coaching of staff-level engineers. Prepare proposals, develop project scopes, schedules and budgets, and client presentations. Participate in business development activities with frequent client contacts and outreach to new and existing clients. Minimum Qualifications B.S. or M.S (preferred) in Civil, Geotechnical or Geologic Engineering, or Structural Engineering. Professional Registration (P.E.) in Wisconsin or ability to obtain within 1 year. 8+ years of previous professional experience in the design of large civil infrastructure projects. Previous consulting work experience on dams and hydropower projects is preferred. Knowledge of potential failure modes assessments and risk assessments as applied to dams and hydropower projects is also a plus. Knowledge and experience with project management concepts and software. Recognized for technical excellence and development of client-focused, creative, and practical solutions. Strong organization skills, multitasking ability and experience with standard computer analysis software as relevant to the discipline. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, report preparation, and the ability to work with engineering staff at all levels. Proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and MATHCAD programs. Willingness and ability to travel on short-term assignments, as needed. Valid U.S. driver's license. We are GEI.
