Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThis entry-level role reports to the Publisher and Nonfiction Editorial Director of the Adult Trade group and supports editorial and administrative department needs. In addition to possessing strong reading and writing skills, this individual must be detail-oriented, organized, efficient, a skilled communicator with various people and departments, and comfortableskilleda quick learner with systems and various database programs. The individual must also have specific interest in nonfiction publishing and developing knowledge of the current market.ResponsibilitiesAdministrative ResponsibilitiesOrganize and schedule department meetings Send production materials, ARCs, finished copies, etc., and other clerical dutiesCreate Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and Powerpoint presentationsAddupdate titles in Biblio Data SystemCommission and track paymentsPrepare and enter expense reports and Focal Point invoicesLook upupdate sales figures (Cognos, Decision Key, Royalty Share) in tip sheetsDraft deal memos, review contracts, upload to BiblioCreate editorial schedulesMaintain title lists, publication grids, and department gridsEditorial ResponsibilitiesRead, evaluate, and respond to submissions alongside Publisher and Editorial DirectorResearch and analyze trends and competitionPrepare acquisitions proposals Offer editorial feedback to colleaguesCreate tip sheets and draft other seasonal and book jacket copy Prepare copy and specs to feed out to online retailersReview reprints and make necessary updatesCommunicate news to authors and agents (deals, ebook promotions, etc.) Requirements Bachelor's degree in a related fieldExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenAbility to organize, multi-task, and work under tight deadlinesFlexible and able to switch gears mid-streamStrong attention to detailCritical reading skillseditorial eyeAbility to take initiativeInterest in working on nonfiction titlesStrong understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook LocationAll candidates must reside in the NY tri-state area and be able to commute to our NY headquarters on a hybrid-remote schedule.Equal Opportunity EmploymentBloomsbury Publishing USA is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
