Collaborates with other sections of laboratory or departments within institution, to provide highest quality of care.AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIESHematology Laboratory SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES•Processes specimens and related documentation according to Laboratory SOP.•Performs all related duties with QCQM Program, maintenance and validation of equipment.•Participates in Laboratory in-service and continuing education.•Responsible to follow all hospital policies and procedures.•Maintains the necessary documentation and records to comply with JCAHO, CAP, Medicare, Medicaid, NYC H+H and Laboratory regulations.•Maintains inventory control by performing inventory check weekly.•Organizes workflow to facilitate completion of assigned tasks.•Aids in training co-workers, new employees and students during other clinical rotation.•Completes other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications1. Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist issued by the addition to meeting the qualification requirement of Assignment Level II, appointment to Level III requires:1. One (1) year of full-time paid experience as a technologist in a clinical laboratory or blood bank.Special Notes:Qualifying experience is not limited to New York State.Candidates that are solely licensed or issued permits to practice as cytotechnologists or histotechnologists may only be assigned work, including supervising personnel performing laboratory work, in a laboratory disciplinespecialty appropriate to their license or permit.
