TAMKO Building Products LLC is seeking an innovative, self-directed, ideal team player, capable of identifying and prioritizing with a team of other engineers the workload and resources necessary to resolve problems and continually improve production lines in an asphalt roofing manufacturing facility.If you consider yourself a multitasker, eager to investigate changes and problems, and someone who breaks down barriers between departmental walls to over communicate when feasible, then this fast paced, highly visible engineering position deserves your application! This mechanical engineer is responsible for evaluating manufacturing machinery and all auxiliary support equipment performance at a multi production line, high speed asphalt roofing manufacturing facility. This engineer develops data to identify quantifiable improvements in a rapidly changing manufacturing environment and manage those identified improvements to machinery and processes from concept through commissioning and product run, measuring and documenting results. This engineer is then responsible for reporting the payback of their results up the chain of command as high as executive leadership. This engineer will lead by example to facilitate change management and sustainment documentation such as engineering drawings, manuals, and spare parts lists.Reports directly to Frederick Plant Engineering ManagerSummary of Essential Job FunctionsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. Other duties may also be assigned.Successfully collaborate with a cross functional team of Engineers, Operations, and Maintenance personnel, understanding the needs of each department's primary focusLead or participate as a Subject Matter Expert on teams both locally to our manufacturing facility and across manufacturing facilities.Serve as Project Manager of multiple simultaneous projects, utilizing TAMKO's Project Management Process and Tracking System for all assignments:Write project specifications for vendor bids, including project scope developmentProvide appropriate project justification and cost-benefit analysis when appropriate for project municate and train on all changes and improvements to the customerFacilitate change management and documentation of all improvementsApply engineering principles to drive data-based decision-making practices.Minimum Requirements for ConsiderationBachelor's Degree in an engineering field from an accredited university (Mechanical or Systems Engineering Preferred)At least 7 years post-secondary education relevant professional experienceProficient user of 3D Computer Aided Drafting software, AutoCAD Inventor PreferredProficient in reading and creating P&ID's, and Electrical one-line diagramsProficient user of Microsoft Office and SAP.Desire to work in a field environment, hands on with machinery and production processesProficient in the use of hand tools and precision measurement devicesAbility to effectively present and communicate project concepts, solutions, justification, and results to maintenanceoperations personnel, peers, plant management.Ability to apply data mining and engineering principles to identify and resolve recurring process issues.Ability to manage multiple projects and thrive in a fast-changing environment. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Work duties will be divided between an office environment and the production floor.Production facility is a 247 operation, and as such, the role may require occasional extended-hour days to aide in troubleshooting, project implementation andor training. Plant management works with employees to ensure adequate comp time is provided when the situation arises.While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work around moving mechanical parts, at elevated heights, where dusts and fumes could be present in the air, with or in proximity to chemicals, in hot environments, around electrical equipment, and in a loud environment.
