Every employee takes a person-centered approach that exemplifies the ICARE values (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence) through empathic communication and partnerships between all persons.Job DescriptionThe Director of Nursing Excellence will be responsible for driving nursing excellence across the organization through the development, implementation, and maintenance of best practices, evidence-based care, and the successful achievement of recognized designations. This position will oversee the processes for achieving and maintaining prestigious nursing recognitions such as the Pathway to Excellence, ANCC Magnet, ANCC Beacon, ENA Lantern Award, AORN Surgical Safety, Go Clear, and the Prism Award. The Director will collaborate with nursing leadership, multidisciplinary teams, and external accrediting bodies to ensure alignment with these standards and the continuous improvement of nursing practice.Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Strategy: Provide leadership and strategic direction for the organization's nursing excellence initiatives.Work closely with the executive team to integrate nursing excellence into the organization's mission and vision.Lead and mentor nursing staff to uphold the values of nursing excellence and best practices.Develop and implement initiatives aimed at achieving and maintaining recognized nursing designations.Quality & Accreditation: Oversee all activities related to achieving and maintaining the Pathway to Excellence, ANCC Magnet, ANCC Beacon, and other related designations.Lead the development and submission of accreditation applications and documentation for Magnet, Beacon, and other awards.Develop and maintain a plan for continuous improvement aligned with best practices, including clinical quality, patient safety, and staff satisfaction.Collaboration & Team Development: Foster collaboration among nursing staff, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to drive performance improvement.Coordinate with departmental leaders to support initiatives and improvements across nursing services.Lead educational initiatives for staff to prepare for and sustain the recognition standards and expectations.Facilitate interdepartmental communication and collaboration on shared goals related to nursing excellence.Award & Recognition Submissions: Manage the writing, submission, and follow-up of applications for various nursing awards and recognitions, including the Pathway to Excellence, ANCC Magnet, ANCC Beacon, and other related designations.Ensure timely and accurate submission of all application materials, reports, and supporting documentation.Develop and maintain systems for tracking progress and evaluating success in meeting award standards.Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze clinical data, staff satisfaction surveys, and patient outcomes to ensure ongoing compliance with the criteria for recognition.Produce reports and presentations to executive leadership, highlighting progress toward goals and areas for improvement.Sustainability & Improvement: Drive the sustainability of recognized designations by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and evidence-based practice.Continuously monitor, evaluate, and refine nursing practices to maintain accreditation standards.Perform other duties assigned by supervisor as needed.Minimum QualificationsLicensed and currently registered to practice as a Professional Nurse in New York State; and, A Master's Degree in Nursing Administration or an equivalent field, and a minimum of four years of high-level responsible experience in nursing administration, three years of which shall have been in a hospital; or, A satisfactory equivalent.
