You will work closely with the Assisted Living Manager to ensure comprehensive, high-quality nursing care for residents across Assisted Living, including the Memory Care Unit. If you're looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of residents while working in a supportive and collaborative environment, we invite you to be part of our leadership team.Essential DutiesCoordination of Resident Care:Oversee the delivery of professional nursing care for residents in the Skilled Nursing Unit (SNU), ensuring compliance with state regulations.Continuously assess and improve care delivery through the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) process, developing best practices for clinical care and policy.Lead the Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) in the development and execution of care plans tailored to the individual needs of each resident.Evaluate new residents for admission to the SNU and coordinate the development of their care municate effectively with healthcare providers, including therapy, pharmacy, hospice, lab, and private caregivers, to ensure continuity and quality of resident care.Actively participate in community committees and programs aimed at enhancing the quality of life for residents.Administration:Collaborate with the Assistant Executive Director, Medical Director, Assisted Living Manager, and medical staff to plan and develop administrative and operational policies and procedures.Provide direct supervision of nursing staff in the Skilled Nursing Unit, ensuring all care is delivered in compliance with state regulations.Work closely with the Independent Living Wellness Nurse and Assisted Living Manager to address medical concerns within the community.Continuously evaluate the clinical competency of staff and oversee the provision of ongoing training, in-service programs, and compliance with educational requirements.Foster and maintain effective professional relationships with local hospitals and community agencies to promote quality care for residents.Contribute to budget planning for the Skilled Nursing Unit and ensure that nursing budget goals are met.Conduct audits and monitor nursing documentation to ensure adherence to regulations.Actively participate in facility committees related to healthcare.Serve as a liaison between physicians, residents, and families regarding resident care.Nursing:Develop and monitor individualized care plans for residents in accordance with regulatory guidelines.Oversee the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to the administration and control of medications, under the direction of a pharmacist.Advocate for the protection of resident rights in accordance with the Resident's Bill of Rights.Respond to emergency situations and delegate staff appropriately to address immediate needs.Supervision:Directly supervise nursing staff in the Skilled Nursing Unit, including Skilled Unit Supervisors, LPNs, and CNAs.Ensure that supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and mentoring to staff, ensuring they meet expectations and promote professional growth.Assist in the hiring and training of new staff, ensuring alignment with the mission and values of St. George Village.Resident Rights:Ensure the delivery of quality nursing care in an environment that promotes dignity, freedom of choice, and individuality for all residents.Orient new residents and their families to the facility, demonstrating genuine concern for their well-being and integrating them into the community.Safety:Ensure that all staff are fully trained on safety protocols related to the Skilled Nursing Unit and monitor daily activities to ensure safety procedures are followed.Stay knowledgeable about federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to skilled nursing and assisted living and ensure compliance across all aspects of care.Supervisory Requirements:Non-exempt employees supervised: 25Exempt employees supervised: 1Responsibility for performance appraisals: YesResponsibility for salary recommendations: YesPercentage of time spent on supervision: 12Responsibility for hiring and firing decisions: YesPositions supervised: Skilled Unit Supervisor, LPNs, CNAsQualificationEducation andor Experience: Level 7: Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years related experience andor training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Language Skills: Level 5: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and or boards of directors.Mathematical Skills: Level 4: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.Reasoning Ability: Level 4: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Currently licensed in good standing as a Registered Nurse; Gerontology Certification a plus. Bachelor's degree in nursing with at least five years related experience preferredAdditional InformationWorking knowledge of computer software for spreadsheet and word processing. MDS experience is preferred. Experience in rehabilitative andor Gerontology relations skills. Possess decision-making, assessment, and inter-personal relations skills. Familiarity and working knowledge of all federal, state and local regulations related to skilled nursing and assisted living.The work week is generally 40 plus hours per week on a year-round basis: however, the position requires a willingness and flexibility in work hours when necessary to fulfill job responsibilities, including occasional evening or weekend work. Employee is subject to personnel policies and procedures prescribed for all personnel.
