ROLE TITLE: School Operations Manager, New York TEAM: Pre-Service APPLICATION DEADLINE: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis through February 2025LOCATION: In Region: Brooklyn and Bronx, New York WHAT YOU'LL DO The School Operations Manager (SOM) plays a critical role in making summer training a "mountaintop" moment by largely managing the school site where corps members are completing their Practicum portion of Pre-Service. Additionally, they contribute to creating managing and upholding systems that allow for seamless operations within their regional community and equip corps members with the information and resources they need to navigate their experience. School Operations Managers are responsible for working in partnerships with local school leaders and ensuring smooth logistics at learning sites. During the Spring, SOMs will complete virtual training (both synchronous and asynchronous) to prepare for the role, which will begin at the start of the wave of Pre-Service that their respective region is following. SOMs will be managed by the Pre-Service Lead in the region they work with. WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR Spring Training Internalize and develop a deep understanding of the systems you'll execute in the summerComplete the required synchronous and asynchronous training for your roleEngage in regular synchronous, virtual training experiences with your manager and other staff members in operation roles starting the week of April 21st, including 1:1 check-in and role-specific meetingsBegin performing regional functions and execute to-dos in all digital platformsProactively build relationships with other staff members and corps members to understand and shape the summer experienceCorps Member Training and Practicum Own on-the-ground school site logistics on behalf of TFA, inclusive of liaising with the school site's operational staff, owning physical set up and take down at the school site, maintaining visitor systems, maintaining temporary "TFA HQ" office, managing printingprinter access, and contributing to operations for school site initiatives (meal delivery, bus loading, etc.)Assist with rostering and student lists at school site as neededSupport attendance tracking for supported CMs by collecting and submitting in-person attendance and supporting resolving CM attendance issuesSupport CM communications, particularly during the Practicum phase of Pre-Service, by supporting regional operationsContribute to CM communications through in-person moments of Pre-Service, including monitoring Slackcommunications channels, sending logistical reminders, and contributing to daily announcementsSupport CM user experience in Pre-Service platforms and systems, assisting with operational and technical needsSupport in-person accommodations for CMs as neededSupport regionalcohort operations as neededA WEEK IN THE LIFEOver any week, the Operations Manager will spend time:Leading the in-person, on-the-ground operations at the school sitePartnering with a team of TFA and seasonal staff executing Pre-ServiceSupporting ongoing Pre-Service operational needs (attendance, communications, systems integrity) for their cohort of CMs and colleaguesRecognizing and interrupting the ways systemic oppression manifests in interpersonal and group interactionsA commitment to explicitly naming and interrupting racism and classism in all of its manifestationsSupport regionalcohort operations as neededYOUR EXPERIENCE Your areas of knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role (minimum qualifications): 2 years of college experience requiredOne or more years of teaching or Pre-Service experience preferredProactive Learning and Adaptation: Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp and implement training for on-the-ground operations, adapting to new challenges and systems with agilityEffective Communication and Relationship Building: Strong oral and written communication skills, with a focus on building relationships and enhancing the Practicum experience for staff and CMsStrategic Organizational and Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills, proficient in managing school site logistics and operational tasks in a fast-paced environmentCustomer Service and Support Orientation: Proven track record of providing excellent customer service, addressing the needs of CMs and colleagues with empathy and resourcefulnessOperational and Technical Proficiency: Comfortable managing operational needs and leveraging technology to ensure the smooth functioning of the school site and its systemsInnovative Problem-Solving and Initiative: Ability to creatively and proactively solve complex problems, especially in managing school site operations and addressing unforeseen challengesCollaborative Teamwork and Inclusivity: Experience in fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment, working effectively with diverse teams to support regional and cohort needsData-Driven and Analytical Approach: Skillful in using data and analytics to inform operational decisions and strategies, ensuring an efficient and effective learning environmentBONUS (preferred qualifications) Previous Pre-Service, VSTT, or Institute experience strongly preferredYOUR FUTURE TEAM Our Pre-Service training team will prepare teachers to provide students with a high-quality education and to pursue a lifetime commitment to advancing educational equity and excellence. Learning will be focused on concepts that sit at the heart of our work, including culturally relevant pedagogy, equity-oriented teacher leadership, universal design for learning, and social-emotional learning. The team will also consist of Operations Specialists, School Directors, and Leadership Development Coaches. YOUR COMPENSATION The School Operations Manager role is compensated $23.32 hourly throughout the entire commitment. Compensation for all Pre-Service positions is competitive and determined based on role responsibilities. DURATION The start date for the School Operations Manager role is April 7th. During the first two weeks you will spend time onboarding to our systems and familiarizing yourself with our systems. Part-time Staff Training for this role begins on the week of April 21st.
