Future of Tomorrow (F.O.T.), a dynamic, youth-driven organization for school improvement and educational justice, is seeking a Youth OrganizerOutreach Coordinator. We value experience with grassroots organizing in low-income communities of color and a commitment to youth organizing. We are looking for a youth organizer who can help develop local campaign work as well as a holistic youth leadership development program.Principal Duties:Support F.O.T. members to participate in the NYC Urban Youth Collaborative, through active participation in bi-weekly organizing meetings, meetings with targets and allies, and participating in campaign actions, such as public hearings and press conferences.Support and organize youth in the community to improve the quality of education at their school.This includes:Support the Lead Organizer in training young people in organizing, including outreach; implementing campaigns; and carrying out actionsOutreach in the ENY neighborhoods to build the base of F.O.T.'s campaigns.Conduct exhaustive outreach to the Thomas Jefferson Ed Campus and Franklin K Lane Campus to build the base of the group.Promote leadership within the group.Support youth-based campaigns to address student-identified issues in the community.Support the coordination of regular campaign meetings.Support the facilitation of weekly member meetings.Support transformative education justice, abolitionists and pro-student initiatives.Support #policefreeschools campaign which advocates for the removal of police from public education.Support the facilitation of member meetings, leadership development workshops for youth, including curriculum design and adaptation.Support the Lead Organizer during Future of Tomorrow's (FOT) SYEP program for 6 weeks in the summer.Work in partnership with other organizers and outreach coordinators and CHLDC staff on the Lane and Thomas Jefferson CampusOther duties as assignedPosition Requirements:High School diploma or equivalent.1-2 years of experience in youth development work, preferably in community organizing.1 year experience of base building and outreach.Experienceinterest in restorative justice practices and alternatives to policing.Skilled in facilitating meetings and leading workshops.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.Detail-oriented.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.To Apply: Send cover letter, three references and resume to HILLS LOCAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION IS AN EQUAL EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITYAFFIRMATIVE ACTION EMPLOYER .
