Daily Provisions is your neighborhood caf with everything you need throughout the day to dine in or take away. We open early in the morning with coffee, fresh baked goods, and breakfast sandwiches. Throughout the afternoon and evening, we offer made-to-order sandwiches, slow-roasted rotisserie chicken, seasonal sides, and a selection of beer and wine to toast the day. We're a New York City caf from Danny Meyer's Union Square Hospitality Group, with a culinary team led by Chef Claudia Fleming. We are open daily at our Union Square, Upper West Side, Upper East Side, Manhattan West, Cobble Hill, and West Village locations.Who you are: The Pastry Cook at the Daily Provisions Bakeshop is responsible for the daily preparation of food and pastry items for service across all Daily Provisions stores. You have a strong passion for food, technique, and an ability to thrive in production heavy environments. What you'll do: Consistently deliver a culture of Enlightened Hospitality to guests and team members.Demonstrate an understanding of baking and pastry techniques, production, and proper use of kitchen equipmentUse industrial machinery (including tilt skillets and dough mixers) to prepare hundreds of pounds of dough in a batch, pipe hundreds of crullers per shift, and flawlessly create different types of high-quality baked items Organizes and prepares orders to ship to each Daily Provisions location by processing requests, pulling items, packing totes, and placing orders in delivery areaCompletes packing task by entering required information on all delivery sheetsMaintain a sound and inquisitive working knowledge of Bakeshop menu items and retain new knowledge of Bakeshop items used across all Daily Provisions storesEffectively participate in a professionally run commissary kitchen, including restocking ingredient bins and maintaining inventoryMaintain an orderly, clean, and neat work area displaying calm professionalism to promote food quality and reduce wasteFollow all recipes, portioning, proper storage, and FIFO to minimize wasteCommunicate effectively and hospitably with all teams throughout the dayPerform additional responsibilities as needed and other duties as assigned to support team objectives and operational success. What we need from you: Culinary training degree andor restaurant or bakery experience.
