Job Description:The Credit Analyst will analyze the long-term financial viability of potential clients employing sophisticated financial analysis techniques and provide on-going portfolio analysis to monitor current client base. The position also requires the analyst to advance the sales department's understanding of each prospective client and existing clients' risk profile to increase efficiencies in sales development. Assisting the AR group based on client collections issues and opportunities is also expected.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAnalyze prospective clients using fundamental financial analysis techniques, including balance sheet, income statement and cash flow measurements as well as industry factors and portfolio concentration issuesReview and make appropriate decisions on business credit applications which meet acceptable underwriting standards and are compliant with company guidelinesGather necessary documentation, conduct thorough due diligence to determine the suitability of loan requests, and prepare a detailed credit report summarizing the financial analysis, collateral position, and overall risk assessment including a recommendation for approval or denialApply quantitative concepts and processes in a judgmental environment to accurately assess risk and balance with expected profitability to the CompanyCommunicate credit decisions to relevant partners and effectively negotiate to "win" desired applicationsPerform ad-hoc data analysis and reportingEstablish scalable and efficient and automated processes for credit analysis and monitoringCoordinate with cross-functional teams to develop financial reporting dashboardsResearch, recommend approvaldecline and monitor existing clients for additional exposurePerform monthly, quarterly, annual credit reviews on existing clients based on the department's credit review proceduresDevelop and foster relationships with the sales forceMaintain credit files and request, track and analyze required financial informationOther duties assigned to ensure overall departmental efficiencyLEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no leadership responsibilitiesCOMPETENCIES - SKILLSExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong oral - written communication skills, including the ability to interact with internal and external clients at multiple levelsStrong negotiation skillsAbility to meet deadlines, function under pressure and manage multiple tasksDevelop sufficient internal and external relationships that ensure volume objectives and credit qualityStrong organizational time-management skillsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree preferred; accounting or finance; in conjunction with formal commercial credit training3-5 years of commercial credit analysis experience, preferably at a financial institutionFinancial statement analysis experience is requiredThorough knowledge of credit analysis and loanlease documentation, and other facets of commercial credit, including knowledge of credit laws and regulationsDemonstrated ability to communicate effectively with relationship managers and other internal stakeholders to discuss credit assessments, provide insights, and collaborate on loan decisionsStrong computer skills including proficiency in SalesforceIntermediate-Advanced skills in Excel including pivot tables and VLOOKUPsJOB SPECIFICATIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTWork Environment: This position is in Des Plaines, IL (eventually Schaumburg)Positions TypeStandard Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday; hybrid (3 days onsite)Travel: No travel is expected for this positionDISCLAIMERPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan which is based on company performance and individual performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location.
