Demonstrates the ability to delegate, train and supervise, as well as carry out necessary maintenance and trouble-shooting activities. Communicates with clinical staff, affiliate laboratories, vendors and regulatory agencies as necessary. Participates in laboratory and hospital-wide improvement activities as required. Reports to the general supervisor and laboratory manager.Responsibilities:Performs appropriate analysis for Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation Provides coverage in all areas of the laboratory as needed.Accessions and prepares specimens for in-house testing and send out testing to Reference Laboratories.Participates in College of American Pathology (CAP) Proficiency Testing Programs. Submit to CAP, all Hematology Coag proficiency results and performs proficiency test deviancy on received results.Performs instrument checks, calibration and quality control testing for automated instruments used in specimen analysis.Maintains appropriate records, i.e. qc, preventive maintenanceMakes intelligent decisions with minimal supervision, and also possess ability to use independent judgment(s) in the absence of a Manager or Director.Provides physicians with assistance pertaining to specimen collection, in-house or reference lab testing capabilities as needed.Monitors inventory levels and informs Manager, and orders the required amounts. Calculates reagents needed.Calls and assigns Phlebotomists for blood work when it is requested.Adheres to Infection Control Standard PrecautionsPerforms periodic maintenance for instruments and troubleshooting as needed.Responsible for all QC and IQAP programs in Chemistry.Performs reagent validations.Performs study for new coagulation reagents lot rollover. Responsible for implementing new instruments in Chemistry and training of lab technologistsMinimum Qualifications1. Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist issued by the addition to meeting the qualification requirement of Assignment Level II, appointment to Level III requires:1.
