Job Type InternshipDescriptionFarallon Consulting LLC is looking to select one student to intern in our firm's Irvine, California location. The ideal candidate will have an anticipated graduation date in 2026 (currently in Junior standing 2025) and currently pursuing a degree focused in geology, environmental science, environmental engineering, or earth science as it relates to conducting cleanup actions. Farallon Consulting, L.L.C. (Farallon), is a 100+ person environmental consulting firm with offices in Bellevue, Seattle, Gig Harbor, Wenatchee, and Bellingham, Washington; Portland and Baker City, Oregon; Oakland and Irvine, California. POSITION DESCRIPTION: The ideal candidate will be able to commute to Irvine, California daily and have reliable transportation allowing for independent travel to and from various worksites locally and state-wide. This unique internship will provide work experience, learning opportunities, and insight into the consulting industry. This is a paid, seasonal position for approximately 10 weeks during the 2025 Summer. Working hours may range from 20 - 40 hours per week, and typically consist of long summer days outdoors, sometimes up to 12 hours per day. The start and completion dates of the internship are flexible and will be determined with the selected candidate. Our internship program is well-regarded to provide premium hands-on environmental consulting experience. The ideal candidate is expected to have their own vehicle for reliable transportation, willingness to work long days mainly outdoors in all weathers and elements, the ability to lift 50+ lbs. for varying periods of time, desire to learn about the environmental consulting industry, and integrity to follow instructions and safety protocols. The internship will provide exposure to many facets of the environmental consulting business. Projects that our Irvine-based intern will be involved with this summer range from small - to large-scale remedial investigations and cleanups predominantly in the Bay Area a involving a variety of site investigation and cleanup technologies. Interns may also work on our stormwater management and sampling and litigation support projects as well as a wide range of unique projects that frequently come our way. The chosen candidate will receive OSHA HAZWOPER training, medical surveillance, health and safety training, federal reimbursement rate for mileage, in-house training for quality standard in field work procedures, site investigation cleanup projects, and an understanding of California's cleanup regulations and other pertinent state and federal regulations. The intern will receive PPE (personal protective equipment) for use in the field. In addition to experience with field data collection procedures, our interns may assist in conducting historic and regulatory research, data management support, compilation, and interpretation.
