The Senior Commerce Director, CNT will be responsible for developing the overarching commerce strategy for the travel category to meet our ambitious goals to expand the CNT business globally. The role will lead a dedicated skilled team including Associate Commerce Director plus Editors, Writers and Producers with a cross-functional network across Editorial, Product, Audience Development and Analytics to deliver revenue and profit goals. The ideal candidate has experience managing a high-performing team with a passion for the travel industry and e-commerce landscape.Primary ResponsibilitiesBusiness owner for commerce revenue for CNT across all global marketsCreate a unique commerce proposition and strategy, reinforcing CNT's service offering as a global travel planning destination and evaluate strategic business model opportunities to evolving market conditions, tactical opportunities and trade performanceIdentify long term strategic growth opportunities across a 3, 4 and 5 year periodBenchmark brand versus direct competitors and travel content and booking destinationsWork closely with broader revenue organization to identify strategic partnership opportunities to drive total Cond Nast revenue across the travel categoryEvaluate and recommend e-commerce investments and lead the development of business cases and plansOwn a brand-aligned category, curation and merchandise strategy with pricing architecture across the travel booking and retail businesses to deliver a quality experience in service to readers, capitalizing on market trendsCollaborate with data, analytics, and product functions to identify initiatives to drive future revenue growthCollaborate with cross-functional experts to maximize all go-to-market commerce activity including newsletter, social media, paid campaigns, events and emerging channelsSynthesize insights from a set of data sources to inform future content and monetization strategiesManage a growing, high-performing team and build a dynamic working culture reflecting Cond Nast valuesDevelop strong cross-functional relationships across the Cond Nast organization, leveraging strong executive presence to influence decisions and achieve buy-in on strategiesDemonstrate a deep understanding of storytelling across multiple platforms and formats to the target audience and define best practices to reach and engage with themAccountable for content strategies, editorial production, product testing, and overall editorial voice, tone and qualityStrategize, plan, and ensure timely execution of weekly, seasonal, and tentpole content calendar that leverages SEO opportunities and business insightsSynthesize purchasing data, consumer trends, and competitive analysis to make informed, strategic editorial decisions that drive key commerce KPIsWorks closely and collaboratively with editorial, advertising, engineering, video, and design teams and pushing forward commerce initiativesP&L management including revenue and personnel costsRecommend effective processes and procedures to improve workflow and results.Other duties as assignedKey relationships will include:SVP Commerce & Executive Director, Commerce Portfolio 1CNT Editorial TeamPartnerships & Sales TeamsCross-functional teams (SEO, newsletter, CRM, social, analytics, technology, finance)Third parties (content production, data, offers)Skills & QualificationsBest in class execution from ideation to execution with deep understanding of the travel category across editorial, brands, retailers and booking partners10+ years' experience in the e-commerce or DTC spaceMerchandising experience preferredProven partner relationship management with a commercial viewpointExperience driving and optimizing an e-commerce business is requiredTeam management and 5+ years of leadership experience is requiredComfortable with revenue forecasting and planningExperience communicating with and presenting to senior executives, and translating company priorities into actionable goals for teamsDemonstrated history of fostering and sustaining a diverse and inclusive team with expertise in mentorship and team leadershipStrong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple prioritiesKnowledge of best-in-class SEO best practicesAbility to size business opportunities and leverage data to influence everyday priorities to meet revenue goalsThis position is based at our headquarters at 1 World Trade Center, New York, NYThe expected base salary range for this position is from $155,00-$190,000.
