RoleThe Logistics team at Whatnot focuses on all things shipping for our sellers and buyers globally, including global carrier integrations, providing tools to sellers to ship quickly and efficiently, opening up new lines of business, showing accurate tracking to buyers, and more. Logistics is deeply connected with the foundations of our business and unlock tremendous growth while creating exciting new ways for our users to have the highest quality shipping experience with this role, you will have the opportunity to build systems and features to help Whatnot continue to grow at a breakneck pace. We're looking to make a number of improvements to the Logistics-domain at Whatnot, including implementing a robust carrier-first architecture and engineering for massive scale and global reach.Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our Los Angeles, San Francisco, or New York hubs. We've found that low ego, a growth mindset, and leaning into action and high impact goes a long way here.As our next Backend Engineer you should have 5+ years of software engineering experience , plus:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience.Knowledge of multiple programming languages (we primarily use Python, Elixir, JavaScript - knowledge of these in particular not required)Excellent product instincts. You first think about users rather than the best technical solutionYou can mentor others, and prioritize building inclusive, supportive teamsProject owner - you've strong ownership instincts and can own projects from inception to production, and beyondYou are known for shipping products and features lightning-fastYou're an excellent problem solver and don't need to be told exactly what to doYou're open to doing frontend work when requiredAbility to pick up on new technologies very quicklyProven track record of delivering features Experience with payment systems, infrastructure, experiences and international commerce (nice to have)Startup experience at a high-growth company (nice to have)Compensation$185,000year to $205,000year + benefits + equityThe salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below) or equity.
