Prepares a variety of scaled, detailed drawings and designs from sketches, computations, field notes and surveyPrepares simple to moderately complex drawings and plans for a variety of stormwater projectsAssists with stormwater modeling efforts and uses modeling to evaluate stormwater projects, infrastructure, and facilities countywide.Conducts preliminary field studies and prepares designsPerforms surveys, plots topography, grades and cross-sections from field survey notesReviews stormwater related plans for conformity to County standardsWorks as a Resident Engineer on assigned projects which includes supervising the work of contractors to ensure that projects are constructed to the standards and specifications per the contract plansMakes field inspections on work in progress and completed projectsInvestigates citizen complaints related to stormwater and urban flooding and recommends solutionsCoordinates proposed improvements with the state and local agencies and other County departmentsAdvises and answers technical questionsPrepares special and periodic reportsREQUIREMENTS INCLUDE EDUCATION andor EXPERIENCECompletion of a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) approved program; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS This position requires a Valid Driver's License issued by the State of Illinois.The preferred candidate will:Have passed the Engineer in Training (EIT) in Civil Engineering for the state of Illinois.A pre-employment background check is required.
