At the forefront of technological innovation and process transformation at Walker & Dunlop, the Small Balance Group plays a critical role in shaping the organization's future.The Impact You Will Have The primary role of this individual will be as a member of the Small Balance Group Underwriting Team which consists of an Underwriters and Analysts.Primary ResponsibilitiesCollect and review the necessary due diligence items to assist the underwriter in closing each loanConduct site visits to assess the condition and quality of multifamily propertiesAble and willing to travel as needed to perform necessary job duties including site inspections and client visitsInteract with the borrower, broker and team members to provide updates as progress is made towards loan closing Update the underwriting model as new operating data is received during the transaction processConduct reviews of market areas, property and site characteristicsReview of borrower and management qualificationsExpand knowledge and expertise of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac credit guidelinesOrder and review third-party Appraisals, Engineering Reports, Seismic Reports, Phase I Environmental Assessments and Operations and Maintenance (O & M) ReportsReview third-party reports to determine any findings that could impact the proposed loanMaintain organized and fully documented underwriting files on loans in processAssist in the crafting of loan narratives for submission to the Chief UnderwriterEnsure that the underwriting team goals and initiatives are completed in a timely mannerEngage in post-closing activities as needed to ensure continued excellence in loan portfolio performanceCommunicate and problem-solve daily with teammates, clients, vendors, and other stakeholders, often in combination with travelPerform other duties as assignedAttendance is generally 8:30 am - 5:30 pm Monday through Friday with the ability to work up to 2 of those days remotelyEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree (Business or Finance Degree preferred)3+ years of financial analyst experience with commercial real estate owner, broker, appraiser or financial institution requiredExperience with GSE Multifamily lending (Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac) preferredExcellent financial modeling skills including thorough knowledge of MS ExcelProficient in MS Word and OutlookKnowledge, Skills and AbilitiesDetail oriented, organized and accurateStrong written and oral communication skillsAbility to handle multiple tasksPassion for real estateAbility to work productively in time sensitive situationsGood concept of financial analysis of income producing real estateGood organization and analytical skillsExhibit good teamwork and cooperationGeneral understanding of all major commercial real estate product types with an emphasis on multifamily propertiesAbility to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processesCourtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholdersThis position has an estimated base salary of $70,000 - $80,000 plus discretionary bonus.
