Title: Echocardiography Specialist Location: Upper East Side Org Unit: Echo Operations Work Days: Monday-Friday Weekly Hours: 35.00 Exemption Status: Non-ExemptSalary Range: $47.47 - $54.62 *As required under NYC Human Rights Law Int 1208-2018 - Salary range for this role when Hired for NYC Offices Position SummaryUnder direction, performs echocardiography techniques. This role does not scan independently until incumbent passes registration and meets departmental competency assessment.Job ResponsibilitiesPerforms echocardiograms and Doppler studies and explains procedures to patients andor guardians. Utilizes portable equipment as necessary for performing echocardiograms on patients.Performs quality assurance related activities. Maintains statistics, checks equipment, performs preventative maintenance and initiates calls for equipment service as necessary.Assists in the scheduling of patients requiring an echocardiogram.Ensures patient safety is maintained at all times.Responsible for maintaining a sterile environment. Ensures standard infection control precautions are observed.Records data, calculations and measurements of echocardiograms according to its pletes and distributes completed reports, digitized studies and videotapes as needed.Assists with training fellows, visiting physicians, medical students and staff in the performance and interpretation of echocardiogram and Doppler studies.Maintains inventory of supplies, equipment andor reagents. May order suppliesequipmentreagents as authorized or ensure that needs are escalated appropriately. Receives supply orders and confirms accuracy of delivery. May assist with cost control.Attends workshops, seminars andor conferences to keep abreast of standards and best practices within the field. Disseminates information to colleagues andor staff as appropriate.EducationAssociate's DegreeExperienceRecent graduate of a CAAHEP or Bachelor's degree program with a concentration in Echocardiography.Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or registry eligible status. Must pass registry within two months of hire.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated working knowledge of echo-contrast and stress echocardiography.Licenses and CertificationsARDMS CertificationRegistered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or registry eligible status BLS certification, issued by the American Heart Association.Working ConditionsPhysical DemandsMust be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.Must be able to move 350 pound wheeled equipment as needed.Weill Cornell Medicine is a comprehensive academic medical center that is committed to excellence in patient care, scientific discovery, and the education of future physicians and scientists in New York City and around the world.
