New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire.JOB TITLE:Environmental Specialist Level 3 AGENCY:Construction & DevelopmentDEPTDIV:DeliveryDelivery Services OfficeREPORTS TO:Principal Environmental Specialist WORK LOCATION:2 BroadwayHOURS OF WORK:8:30 AM to 5:00 PM or as required (7.5HR DAY)HAY POINTS:479SALARY RANGE:$80,963 to $105,349DEADLINE:Open Until FilledSummaryThe Environmental Specialist Level 3 supports Project Management for permittingdesign and construction projectsprograms. ResponsibilitiesInvolved with supporting survey field efforts by working with technical leads to identify needs for survey crews. Ensures the team tracks necessary equipment, reviews and logs calibration requirements provides crews with safety plans, and files daily logs.Coordinates and attends meetings and assists in developing a tracking system to manage assignments. Distributes notes per project requirements.Works to maintain schedules for all projects under this program under the direction of task leads.Applies MTA C&D quality assurance guidelines and procedures for project document management.Assists in preparing portions of reports and permit documents.Works with GIS support to communicate any updates.Education and ExperienceBachelors in Environmental ScienceEnvironmental TechnologyEnvironmental Management Archaeology Anthropology Biology Wildlife or an equivalent subject. Masters preferred. Various Disciplines may be (but are not limited to) Historic Preservation and Cultural, Environmental Resources, Asbestos, Lead, and Hazardous Materials. Must have a minimum of four (5) years of related experience. Competencies: CEP-IT certification desirable.Knowledge of the capital design and construction process.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Proficiency in current industry software and Microsoft Office are required.Experience visiting the field for initial scopesurvey and construction oversight preferred.Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.Must be proficient in MS Word and Excel.Analytical ability, pro-active attitude, willingness to learn, and an ability to think "outside the box" when required.Other InformationPursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the "Commission").Selection CriteriaBased on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.How to ApplyMTA employees must apply via My MTA Portal.
