Job Title: After-School Clubhouse Lead CounselorDepartment: Center for Family LifeReports to: School Age Program DirectorFLSA Status: Non-ExemptDate: 6142024Job Overview:Our School-Age Programs department seeks responsible, caring individuals to work as a Lead Counselor in the After-School Clubhouse program Mondays - Thursdays, from 2:30- 5:30 pm.Clubhouse provides a safe environment for children ages 4- 10 after their school day. There are four different groups of children each day, divided by age and grade. Our vision is to raise thoughtful community members while recognizing the individual needs of our participants.Responsibilities and Duties:Pick up children from local schools on the Upper West Side and escort them to the JCCProvide a safe and fun environment and create a positive classroom culture for children in the Clubhouse programLead age-appropriate activities for children ages 4-10, serve snack, and assist with homework (if working with the older group of children)Follow each child's daily schedule of activities and ensure prompt arrival and pickup from classesLead a team of assistant counselors, and provide guidance for establishing schedules, routines, and activities for the groupDaily communication with parents and caregiversClose collaboration with supervisorsAttend program orientation and staff development meetings every other monthQualifications:Must be 18 or olderPrior experience working with children 4-10 years old in a school, camp, synagogue or community settingAn advanced or bachelor's degree in education or a related field is greatly preferredAbility to commit to working Mondays - Thursdays, 2:30-5:30 pm, from September 2024 -June 2025Benefits:Part-time staff working at MMJCCM for 5-19 hoursweek will receive free access to the fitness center, pool, and gymSalary Range: $26-$28 per hourDates: September 16th, 2024- June 5th, 2025Hours: Mondays-Thursdays, 2:30-5:30 PMDisclaimer: This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) incumbent in this position.
