Make a splash this Spring-join our team and help create a safe and enjoyable experience for our community!Successful candidates will possess the following:Safety Awareness: Demonstrates a commitment to ensuring the well-being of all patrons and enforce facility rules and regulations.Vigilance: Maintains focus and readiness to respond in high-pressure situations, providing first aid or lifesaving techniques as needed.Teamwork: Collaborates effectively with staff and supervisors to provide a seamless experience.Customer Service: Creates a welcoming and positive environment for all visitors.Responsibility: Takes initiative and completes assigned tasks reliably; dependable and able to maintain punctual attendancePrior experience as a lifeguard or swim instructor is desired.Familiarity with pool safety protocols and water rescue techniques is desired.Current certification in Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid, and AED (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).Strong swimming skills and physical fitness.About the Recreation DepartmentThe Recreation Department provides programs and services that enhance the quality of life for the Pittsburg community through the following:Youth and Young Adult Services: variety of programs for youth and young adults including job readiness, employment opportunities, wellness, and arts and community.Sports: variety of recreation sports leagues, camps and clinics for youth and adults and responsible for field rentals and usage.Small World Park: daily operations of children's amusement park that is open weekends only in the springfall and four days a week during the summer.Aquatics: operation of aquatic center including recreation and lap swim, classes, and programs and rentals.Senior Center: various activities and programs for residents, ages 50+ to include exercise programs, financial counseling, crafts, special excursions, health management, social events, meals, and wellness.The Marina Community Center located in downtown Pittsburg provides a hub for Recreation staff and community partners and offers indoor programs and activities for youth, families, and all residents.About PittsburgThe City of Pittsburg is a culturally rich and diverse community of over 74,000 residents and expected to grow to 90,000 in the next 20 years. Training in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR is required and may be provided during employment.Lifeguard: Rescue swimmers in distress; enforce pool rule; administer first aid; ability to deal with stressful situations; and perform general maintenance of pool and surrounding area. Lifeguards are required to possess an American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Responding to Emergency training. Lifeguards should have refined swimming skills and the ability to swim 20 laps.Qualified applicants must be at least 15 years of age. Selection Process1. New Hire Paperwork: After completion of the backgroundpre-employment process, successful candidates will complete new hire onboarding which includes paperwork, reviewing of applicable policies, and training. Police Trainee receives medical, dental, sick leave and retirement benefits while in the Police Academy.
