Ensures the ongoing review of existing laboratory policies and standard operating procedures to identify gaps or discrepancies and implement revisions as necessary. AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direction and leadership of the Director of Pathology and Laboratory, leader of the Chemistry laboratory, coordinating and overseeing the clinical operation, special activities, and projects. Leading the day-to-day operations of the Chemistry laboratory through effective planning, organizing, prioritizing, and evaluating of operational activities. SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES•Supervisory responsibility for the day to day operations of the Biochemistry section of the laboratory.•Develops and implements standard operating procedures.•Assisting the Director of Pathology and Laboratory in supporting quality control and risk management.•Under Leadership working on QCQA, leading PI projects•Reviews proficiency data for accuracy, completion and timely submission.•Develops, implements and maintains an in-service education program.•Investigates and resolves difficult analyses, interprets results and performs unusual and complicated tests.•Allocates staff on the basis of workload, available space and equipment.•Performs annual performance appraisals and competencies for reporting employees.•Implements new procedures, updates and revises current procedures.•Organizes, monitors and updates documentation (Manuals) of technical policies and procedures.•Maintains the necessary documentation and records to comply with TJC, CAP, Medicare, Medicaid, North Brooklyn Health Network and Laboratory regulations.•Screens applicants for job requirements based on predetermined criteria.•Demonstrates knowledge in the use of Laboratory Information System (LIS)•Reviews in-house and reference laboratories incomplete work lists.•Processes and reviews all requisitions and contracts for Biochemistry section.•Performs result verifications.•Performs correlationvalidation protocol for methodology changes and new procedures.Minimum Qualifications1. Valid license as a clinical laboratory technologist, cytotechnologist, or histotechnologist issued by the NYSED. For Appointment to Levels IV and V 1.
