Temporary Professional Development Coaches

The Temporary Professional Development Coaches team provides specialized career guidance and industry-specific mentorship to students across CCA's academic divisions: Design, Architecture, Fine Arts, and Humanities & Sciences. In collaboration with the Senior Director of Professional Engagement and External Partnerships, the team will initiate and cultivate relationships with employers through networking opportunities to increase the professional engagement and internship opportunities for students. Under the guidance of the Senior Director, the advisor team will lead a new initiative to develop collaborations with CCA faculty, program chairs, and deans to align professional development and course learning outcomes, providing support to bring experienced and creative industry trends to the classroom. The Professional Coaching and Development Advisor engages in functional responsibilities providing leadership for professional engagement events with programs, identifying ongoing local professional development opportunities, and arranging workshops and student engagement events with the collaboration of the faculty in each program. This is a part-time (3-20 hoursweek) temporary position based on the academic schedule.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:Student and Employer Relations- 35%Partner with the Senior Director to build a diverse professional network of faculty, alumni, parents, and industry professionals who can share their career experiences and success stories to motivate students.Build and help manage partnerships with employers to create internship and career opportunities aligned with our academic programsBased on own background and network, support relationships with diverse employers to expand opportunities for students and resources for alumniRecognize organizational and industry trends for professional opportunitiesReference online resources (LinkedIn, listservs, social media) to connect students to employers and employment opportunitiesSupport professional development events and workshops, coordinate employer visits and portfolio reviewsFoster an inclusive student culture that celebrates diversity, promotes mutual respect, encourages personal accountability, and nurtures leadership skills. Consultation and Resources - 35%Provide comprehensive support to students across all programs, including advising, coaching, and skills development through student appointments and professional networking andor recruitment events..Conduct workshops for both graduate and undergraduate students on essential professional development topics, such as:Internship success strategiesProfessional work practicesUnderstanding employer expectationsInterview PreparationResume writing techniquesCareer path explorationProvide expert guidance to students and faculty on professional development, including internships, employer relations, professional and artists associations, industry trends, and hiring practicesPartner with ISS to support international students in connecting with employers and employment opportunities in the U.S.Administrative- 25%Update coaching content to align with current hiring practices and standardsReference career development resources and platformsResearch hiring trends and needs from industry leaders, and artist studios and galleries.Collaborate with the college community on the strategic development of resources and programsMaintain the confidentiality of sensitive issues and records. Other related duties as assigned based on business needs and available capacity - 5%Collaborate with the Senior Director to develop online materials educating CCA students and alumni about professional development servicesLead initiative to align professional development with course learning outcomesMaintain and promote the CCA job board (Handshake) with up-to-date opportunitiesDevelop employer relations content on the CCA portal and update it bi-annuallyCreate tutorials for employer use of Handshake and other digital toolsManage comprehensive employer, student, and alumni records on Handshake while generating insightful statistical reports to drive data-informed decision-making.Explore Workday implementation for student engagement and skill trackingSupport hiring and supervision of student worker event assistantsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:The Professional Coaching and Development Advisor role is crucial in guiding students toward professional success in the art and design industry. This position demands a comprehensive understanding of professional development resources and diverse career pathways within the field. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:The range for this position is $35 - $45hourCCA offers a comprehensive benefits package, including the choice of five medical plans, generous holiday, sick & vacation time, a retirement match and tuition remission. CCA covers an average of 91% of the medical plan cost for the employee only and an average of 82% for employees with dependents.
