Position SummaryThe Advanced Imaging Technologist works under the supervision of the Radiology Sr. Tech Technical Manager, or designee and is responsible for performing a combination of multiple modality imaging in the areas of Interventional Radiology, MRI, X-Ray, CT, Nuclear Medicine, and OR C-Arm guided procedures (based on their specialties). The role of the Advanced Imaging Technologist is to support operational needs and logistics and maintains quality and throughput to achieve the highest level of clinical quality and patient care possible. The Advanced Imaging Technologist is required to work in at least two advanced modalities 50% of the time.Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following:Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors Prepares and positions patients correctly for specific imaging examinations, observing different and special requirements for each protocol including proper documentation on images and required body part screenings and questionnaires.Assumes responsibilities for designated areas andor procedures and produces good technical images, reviewing completed scans for quality, completeness for the type of test ordered.Assists physicians during biopsy procedures as necessary.On Call rotation required depending upon area of specialty (IR and X-Ray for OR support).Performs quality assurance and calibrations, QAQC testing as required by regulatory agencies and governing bodies.Will be required to adapt and work when emergent procedures or situations arise in the department.Maintains the cleanliness of all areas, equipment and accessories.Reports all malfunctioning equipment and failed QC to SupervisorManager.Performs contrast injections as required.Performs routine office duties, such as answering the phones, checking previous reports films, documents information on patients request, utilizes EMR and PACS systems.Notifies appropriate staff upon exam completion to ensure timeliness of next case start time.May be assigned as instructor or preceptor.Professionally communicates with patients and family members to address questions or concerns.Should be knowledgeable and skillful in providing care, based on age, physical and psychosocial stature of patient populations; pediatric, adolescent, adults and geriatric groups.Ensures all needed medical surgical supplies are ordered, circulated properly to avoid expiration, and stocked for all cases in each designated areamodality.Attends staff meetings and in-services.Performs all other related duties as assigned. Performs other duties as assignedEducation & Experience RequirementsThe Radiologic Technologist must be graduate of an allied health education and accredited radiography school or hospital base program.NYS DOH license is required.NYS Contrast Media Injection license is required.Advanced ARRT certification required, CT, IR, MRI, MRSO, ARDMS or NMTCB.Continuing education requirements need to be upheld to meet standards set forth by governing bodies. Current standards are 24 ECE credits over a two-year period.BLS certification through the (AHA) American Heart Association is required or must be completed within 90 days of hire.Radiation dose pledge completed for both Image WiselyImage Gently through the American College of Radiology (ACR), either during the orientation period or before end of the probationary period.
