Commercial Generator Technician

Job Type Full-timeDescriptionWe are seeking Generator Technicians to join our Southern California division. As a Generator Technician you will perform preventive maintenance on commercial stationary backup generators. Schedules are Monday to Friday with occasional travel shifts, a two-week training schedule and a three-month probation period. Technicians are issued company vehicles and allowed to start their service routes from their home address or location. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of recent experience performing mechanical preventative maintenance and repairs with basic commercial electrical knowledge on stationary generators for optimal performance.ResponsibilitiesVisually inspect and diagnose natural gas andor gasoline standby commercial generatorsConduct routine maintenance on standby generators which may include changing filters, oil changes, replace batteries, belts, spark plugs and other mechanical componentsKnowledge and experience about DC and AC voltage equipment is desiredProficient troubleshooting Automatic Transfer Switches is desiredProvide generator user education as neededSubmit repair or service recommendations as needed to keep equipment operational in optimal conditionRead and interpret technical manuals and schematicsDrive a company vehicle and complete fleet reports as required by the departmentComplete accurate records of all maintenance and repairs performedCommunicate effectively with management, peers and clients Requirements A minimum of three years of recent experience performing generator maintenance or similar mechanical roleCommercial electrical knowledge is desiredPass a pre-employment drug test and motor vehicle background checkProficient English communication skills to write reports and emailsPossess hand tools to perform the mechanical work and voltage testsWilling to commute to various jobsites using company vehicles within Orange County, Los Angeles County andor the Inland EmpireAbility to work independently and as part of a team Superior Electrical, Mechanical & Plumbing, Inc. is a service and construction company providing customer service throughout California and other states.
