The Community Service Officer I provides a variety of support services to the police department such as animal control, parking regulation enforcement, equipment maintenance, and administrative support. This is temporary position for law enforcement students to gain experience during their education. Maximum length of this position will be one year with a possible extension of one or two more years depending on candidate's declared education track.Position Summary: The Community Service Officer I provides a variety of support services to the police department such as animal control, parking regulation enforcement, equipment maintenance, and administrative support.Essential FunctionsPerforms patrol duties.Patrols City to enforce parking regulations and animal ordinances.Observes traffic and other law enforcement problems and reports for action by patrol officers.Responds to non-criminal public calls for service. (i.e. lock-outs, motorist assists, found property, etc.)Provides other support to police officers as neededdirected.
