The Journeyman Mechanic has the responsibility to troubleshoot major and minor mechanical problems, as well as have the ability to repair and adjust all necessary mechanical components. Work assignments will be received in the form of oral or written work orders, but the employee is expected to determine the nature and extent of needed repairsReports ToShop ManagerMaintains, repairs and overhauls heavy vehicles and industrial equipmentInterprets work orders and technical manualsKeeps equipment cleaned, lubricated and maintainedDiagnoses faults or malfunctionsAdjusts equipment and repairs or replaces defective parts, components or systemsObey all workplace health and safety and code of conduct workplace rulesUndertake the training and assessment required under the training planASE certifications are a plusAbility to perform physical requirements of the jobRepetitive lifting, pushing, pulling and climbingAbility to drive truck with a manual transmissionAbility to work in all weather conditionsNeeds excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skillsGood hand-eye coordination and manual dexterityPrevious CDL truck driving experience preferredWaste industry experience, a plusCompletion of college or vocational or technical trainingExperience with routine maintenance operations is requiredPhysical Demands Environmental FactorsWorks under moderate supervisionRequires lifting up to 50-75 pounds, pushing, pulling and bendingPhysical ability to lift up to 50 poundsA valid driver licenseA valid CDL driver license is a plusMust be 21 years of age, or olderA GED or high school diploma is required
