Job DetailsJob LocationThe Potomac School - McLean, VAPosition TypeFull TimeEducation Level4 Year DegreeDescriptionThe Interim Assistant Athletic Trainer vacancy is a part-time position reporting to the Director of Athletics and the Head Athletic Trainer. In this role, the selected individual will provide support to the athletics department during games, practices, and in the training room. The core hours will be from 1pm to 6pm, or until games are finished.The Potomac School has a Center for Athletics and Community that will rank among the best facilities in the mid-Atlantic region. The school has 72 interscholastic teams in grades 7-12 and supports 26 varsity teams. The school's boy's teams are members of the Mid-Atlantic Conference and the girl's teams are members of the Independent School League.Duties and Responsibilities:Assessing student performance, writing reports on children's progress and communicating with parentsWork flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends, depending on seasonality of sports programsEnsure there is coverage of the athletic training room and coverage at all home practices and gamesWeekend coverage of games on Saturdays should be expected, with Sunday coverage on rare occasions.Maintains the database to record any student injury andor treatment activityPerforms other duties as assignedQualifications:Bachelor's Degree in the related field required, Master's Degree preferred.Must have an active certification with the NATABOC and be licensed in the State of Virginia or eligible for licensure.Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writingKnowledge of administrative and clerical procedures including computer skills, database management and office machineryValid Driver's License at time of hireAbility and willingness to work evenings and weekendsAbility to maintain professional certification with continuing education creditsKnowledge of principles and methods for guidance regarding prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical injuriesKnowledge of human behavior, individual differences in ability, learning and motivation and performance standardsKnowledge of principles and best practices of athletic training and measurements of effectivenessAbility to work effectively with individuals and groups in collaborative mannerIn striving to fulfill its mission, The Potomac School seeks many different voices, viewpoints, and backgrounds.
