MANDATORY TRAININGApplicants selected for employment will be required to attend mandatory training sessions (Dates TBD).CERTIFICATIONS Certifications for American Red Cross Lifeguarding (or Ellis Lifesaving or YMCA Lifesaving) CPR, AED, and First Aid for the Professional Rescuer, and Title 22 Certificates within 60 days of employment.JOB SUMMARY Under supervision will perform the full range of lifeguard and instructor duties. From providing safety for the people using the swimming pool to overseeing recreational activities and routine maintenance; and performing related work as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIESThis is the first working level in the lifeguard series; prevents accidents through the enforcement of policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of persons at the swimming pool; keeps attentive lookout for accidents in the water or on a diving board or swimming pool deck; warns people against dangerous practices regarding pool use; enters the water to rescue people in distress; administers artificial respiration and first aid and calls for emergency response on serious accident cases; assists with routine pool cleaning and maintenance work on or about the swimming pool as required; may open the facility and supervise pool operations; assists in supervising special swim events; may be required to work weekends, evenings, andor holidays.TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONSLifeguard:Possession of a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certificate (or Ellis Lifesaving or YMCA Lifesaving Certificate); First Aid for the Professional Rescuer Certificate; CPR Certificate; and Title 22 Certificate.Training and Experience:Any combination of training and experience which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
