If you want to work with the most talented people on Earth furthering space exploration for humanity, come join us.Vast is looking for a CNC Machinist, reporting to the Senior Manager of Machining, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.As a machinist, you will manufacture hardware from billet material and additively manufactured hardware utilizing state of the art CNC machinery.This will be a full-time, non-exempt position located in our Long Beach location. Shift hours:First Shift: 6AM-3:30PMSecond Shift: 3PM-12:30AMResponsibilities: Set up and operate multi-axis CNC MillsLathesAbility to check parts that are running according to the in-process inspection plan, including optical comparator, caliper, and micrometersUnderstand speeds and feedsCommunicate with machine shop leadership when parts exhibit quality issues or concernPerform first article inspectionsDeburr all parts to ensure quality partPerform basic maintenance needs of the machine. Clean chips, fill coolant, add fluids, Clean machine.Effectively work as a team and pass on workload to the following shift.Minimum Qualifications:5+ years of CNC machining experience3+ years working with CNC machines with HAAS and FANUC controlsHigh school diploma or equivalency certificatePreferred Skills & Experience:Working knowledge of GD&TFamiliarity with inspection toolsWorking knowledge of G codeStrong Mechanical aptitudeAbility to deburr all parts to ensure quality partsStrong oral and written communicationCollege or Trade school certificateWorking knowledge of Additive Manufactured PartsMulti-axis Mill, Lathe, Mill-Turn and Turn-Mill knowledgeAbility to run up to 2 machines simultaneouslyAdditional Requirements:Willingness to work evenings andor weekends to support critical mission milestonesAbility to lift up to 35 lbs unassistedProlonged periods of standing, pushingpulling, lifting, and operating machinesPay Ranges: CNC Machinist I: $23.00 - $32.00CNC Machinist II: $28.00 - $39.00CNC Machinist III: $35.00 - $44.00Salary Range: California$23-$44 USDCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITSBase salary will vary depending on job-related knowledge, education, skills, experience, business needs, and market demand.
