The Manual Lathe Machinist will machine parts per specifications on schedule and within budgeted hours. POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESRead, interpret and understand blueprints and drawings including symbols, welding symbols, material type and material shapePlan machining operations by studying work orders, blueprints, drawings, specifications, materials, machining parameters, and interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerancesPerform basic machining math including fractional decimal conversion, feet inches conversion, basic trigonometry (sin, cos), calculating dimensions and tolerances and determining missing linear or angular dimensionsProperly set up and operate Manual Lathe and Mill Machines and machine partscomponents to the required specificationsProperly utilize machining tools such as carbide drill and reamingPlan and perform a wide variety of diversified close tolerance lathe operationsVerify conformance of machined work-piece to specifications using measuring devices and make corrections as requiredMaintain a safe and clean work environment and comply with all quality, safety and work rules and regulationsMaintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance as required following manufacturer's instructionsUnderstand and maintain both quality and quantity standards and expectationsContinually seek to improve work processes and individual performanceQualificationsPOSITION REQUIREMENTS:Experience with short production runs, multiple setups and changeoversAbility to read blueprints and machine components from themMinimum 2 years' experience working on a manual lathePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day. The employee is frequently required to grasp, handle, and feel objects, control and manage tools, and use hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift andor move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
