Position Title: SOUS CHEF II - Commack, NY Reports To: Executive Sous Chef?Salary: $75,000-$80,000yr. Job Summary As the Sous Chef, you will be responsible for the successful operation of the Culinary Department for an outstanding, vibrant independent senior living facility in Commack, NY. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to build outstanding dining experiences while working in an encouraging and collaborative environment. You will assist in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items, developing daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment. You may supervise hourly associates and work with the Executive Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering. Key Responsibilities:Assists the Executive Sous Chef with handling cost controls and controlling expenditures for the accountAssists the Executive Sous Chef with planning and crafting menusProduces and completes catering eventsRolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with Company marketing and culinary teamEnsures all food is prepared to the highest standards of quality and safetyTrains and mentor's kitchen staff to achieve flawless performancePreferred Qualifications:A.S. or equivalent experienceSome dynamic culinarykitchen management experience, depending upon formal degree or trainingCatering experience, a plusPrior experience in independent senior living preferredExperience in managing fast-paced, intricate foodservice operations - helpfulInstitutional and batch cooking experiences usefulComprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentationMust be experienced with computers; to include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, E-mail, and the InternetMust be willing to participate in client happiness programsactivitiesServSafe certified Apply to CulinArt today!CulinArt is a member of Compass Group USAClick here to Learn More about the Compass Story!
