Porter/Housekeeper - Third Street Women's Residence

Job Overview:Type: Regular, full timeSchedule: Thursdays to Mondays from 8:00AM - 4:00PMLocation: Fully onsite in the Lower East SidePay: $22 an hour; non-exemptProgram Overview:The Third Street Women's Residence is a critical part of this network, providing transitional shelter and supportive services to 79 homeless women with mental illness concerns who are in need of permanent housing. The staff provides an array of social and housing placement services, working with the residents to enhance and develop life management skills, as well as to manage their mental health conditions. When needed, residents are referred to community-based organizations.Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED requiredGood written and verbal communication skills3 years experience working in building maintenanceAbility to work in a physically demanding environmentMust be able to work flexible scheduleMust be able to lift and move heavy objectsMust obtain CPRFirst Aid certification within the first 3 months of employmentMust obtain Fire Conductor or Fire Safety and Alarm System Test ( Homeless Shelter F-80), for licensure within the first three (3) months of employmentResponsibilities:Assist with keeping building in compliance with regulatory and monitoring agencies (NYC Department of Health, NYC Fire Department, Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (OTDA) , Department of Homeless Services (DHS) and Callahan)Assist with maintaining a sanitary environmentClean stairwells and lobbies in a six (6) story walk-up building twice a weekAssist in keeping all areas in bathroom clean dailyClean all offices on a daily basis to ensure cleanlinessAssist in keeping common areas clean (i.e. offices and bathrooms)Maintain cleanliness of floors (mopping and scrubbing corners)Dust borders on wall (telephones, windows, windowsills and televisions)Help with garbage removal dailyPrepare client's areas for intake and dischargeHelp clean and prepare cubicles for move-ins and move-outsReport any equipment or materials that need repairOther duties as assigned by supervisorEssential Physical Job Functions:Ability to lift up to 20-50 lbs.Capable of walking up and down multiple flights of stairs throughout the dayAble to stand for long periods of time as neededFully vaccinated against COVID-19Ability to work in the Lower East Side
