Camp Counselors are the primary caregivers for campers during camp and are responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and leading activities that guide campers in their personal growth. The position is also responsible for delivering STEAM camp experiences, incorporating hands-on activities that inspire creativity and glewood Innovation CenterThe Inglewood Service Center is a unique space in the heart of Inglewood. Specifically created to reach more Girl Scouts with STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) programming. The Inglewood Innovation Center is outfitted with special technology and tools to cultivate the creativity, innovation, and confidence of the Girl Scouts who visit. The camp operates with daily exposure to various weather conditions and animals such as bugs, raccoons, and other wilderness animals common to the area.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesAssist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers throughout the camp to meet the intended camper outcomes. Apply basic youth development principles in working with campers through communication, relationship development, respect for diversity, involvement, and empowerment of youth. Assure campers are properly supervised at all times. Be aware of and implement safety guidelines. Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes. Responsible for leading and assisting with the teaching of activities. Actively participate in all program areas as assigned. Provide for the progression of activities within the framework of individual and group interests and abilities. Assist in program areas such as robotics, engineering, creative arts projects, and all-camp STEAM activities, as directed.Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff. Provide the daily care of each camper within your supervision including recognition of personal health needs. Ensure that campers receive their medications as directed by the Health and Inclusion Specialist. Be alert to campers' and staff needs and assist them with personal andor health problems and discuss with the Girl Innovation Specialist when appropriate. Be alert to equipment and facilities to ensure utilization, proper care, and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to the Girl Innovation Specialist. Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude and behavior. Follow and uphold all safety and security rules and procedures. Set a good example to campers and others regarding general camp procedures and practices including sanitation, schedule, and collaboration within a group. Participate as a member of the camp staff team to deliver (as needed) evening programs, special events, and other all-camp activities and camp functions.Attend and participate in daily meetings. Provide check inout support and provide outstanding customer service to families.Responsible for taking care of special programming equipment and supplies.Set up and break down STEAM activity stations, such as robotics kits, coding equipment, engineering tools, and creative arts materials, in an organized manner, including maintaining an accurate inventory of supplies and equipment.Evaluates and reports as requested by the Girl Innovation Specialist or other administrative staff.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesMust be 18 years of age by the start of camp.Must be available for 5 weeks of day camp (June 16, 2025 - July 18, 2025), training dates that will be scheduled prior to camp, and a week following camp for clean-up.Must possess and maintain a valid CPRFirst Aid Certification throughout the position's employment dates. Training will be available.Must submit a basic health history form as set by the American Camping Association. Ability to spend time sitting, utilizing the computer, and standing and walking throughout the facilities.Ability to lift up to 20 pounds periodically. Must possess endurance including prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching.The preceding functions have been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification.
